RE: Allies Specialty Vehicles Buys Monaco Corp Today

Let's hope their attitude is better towards the customer than Navistar!!! I don't know if the new owner is more tuned into dealing with the ultimate customer/owner. Having dealt with the factory service center in Coburg after Navistar took over I can tell you that IMO they viewed the coach owner as an inconvenience.

RE: Plastic leveling blocks

Although I have two bags of them I have only used one bag once on very soft ground. The rest of the 45,000 miles on this DP they were excess baggage.

RE: Dumping air when parked

Peaches & Cream has it right. I have a 2003 safari Cheetah 36' DP. It has the same basic chassis as your Endeavor. Put out your slides, dump air and then level. When you dump air you are lowering the rig closer to the ground and will have more leveler extension available for you to work with. Make sure your parking break is set and block your tires. Once you dump air your parking brake is the only thing keeping your rear tires from moving. NEVER, NEVER LIFT YOUR REAR TIRES OFF THE GROUND!!

RE: Dingy

We tow a 2000 Nissan XTerra 4 X 4 auto. Have towed it almost 45,000 miles with no problems and no drive shaft disconnect. Prior toad wad a 1988 Chevy Tahoe 4 X 4 with a drive shaft disconnect and it was a pain.

RE: 1995 28ft Georgie Boy, Chevy 454, P30 chassis

I had a 1985 Allegro 23' with a454 on the P-30 Chassis. I got rid of it at about 40,000 miles as it was a repair & maintenance nightmare. Blew through 3 sets of manifolds/headers due to heat. It had fuel vapor lock issues that no one could cure. I wouldn't touch another 454 or a P-30 chassis!!!!!

RE: dingy towing 4 wheels on ground?

I had one on a 1988 Chevy S-10 Tahoe 4X4. I used it for about 10 years. I hated it! Had endless problems getting the splines to engage after towing so that I could drive the S-10. I spent many hours under that S-10 in the dirt and mud to get it to lock in. I had the installation checked numerous times and nothing improved the process. Maybe it was my vehicle that was the problem; however, IMO I doubt it. I've talked with other Rvers who loved the product. My experience is such that I wouldn't buy another vehicle which couldn't be towed without installing a disconnect drive shaft.

RE: Aussie couple driving Montana LLC registered RV into Canada

I would certainly check with US Customs before going into Canada in case you are checked coming back to the US as to what they expect. Don't assume that Montana plates will whisk you through US Customs. Google US Customs/Immigration as a start. When you get to the US agent at the kiosk and he hears you accent he may shuttle you into secondary inspection. You need to know what they will want to see...paperwork wise. They may want to inspect your RV and ask you to leave the coach. Be polite, don't make jokes, don't volunteer info they didn't ask for.

RE: Is our summer trip out West too ambitious?

We live in western NV and have RV'd all over the west for 50 years. What you have laid out is an 18 wheeler trip! The roads in most of the western US are great and you can cover lots of territory in a day and not see anything but white lines. Shave the trip do about 300 miles a day, get on the road early in the morning (you will better manage the heat) try to stop by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Drive less see more! Enjoy

RE: Well, it finally happened, got hit, but no damage

That happened to me two years ago. But, I was parked parked on the main drag in Coos Bay, OR. A local fuel delivery truck hit my driver's side mirror and nearly took it off. Luckily he stopped and called his boss who immediately came over. They admitted it was their fault, and they landed up paying for a new mirror and labor installation at the Monaco factory just up the road. It cost them $800.00! But Monaco only sold them in pairs so I got a spare passenger mirror which I sold. I feel your pain.

RE: Misleading avertising/ignorant sales people

I have a 36' DP with a 330HP CAT and a Allison 6 speed tranny. Monaco rated the hitch at 5,000lbs. I wanted to tow my 3/4 ton Dodge diesel pickup. So, I called Monaco and they said if the truck is over 5,000lbs don't do it. The told me to call the rear end/axle manufacturer and I did. They said if you do tow more than 5,000lbs you better have a good Lawyer!!! Additionally, it would void the rear end/axle warranty immediately! So, I have been towing a Nissan XTerra 4X4 for 10 years, it weighs just 4,000 to 4,500 lbs, but it works.

RE: Koni FSDs - how many miles do you have on them?

I have about 12,000 miles on the Konis on my 2003 Safari Cheetah and they are as good as the day they were put on.

RE: Bridgestone Tires?

Replaced my original equipment Goodyears on my DP (which had terrible "rivering" problems) with Bridgestones. Wow, what a difference in the ride!

RE: Has anyone had it done?

Had my 36' DP towed on a flatbed. It can be done but you must make sure that the bottom of the front cap isn't damaged or destroyed. I had a driver who knew what he was doing and had towed DPs before so he came equipped to deal with the angle of getting the rig off the street on to the flatbed.

RE: Radiator removal 40' DP 2001 Endeavor

Mix a mild to medium solution of Simple Green and spray onto radiator and CAC and tranny cooler if you can. It works best if the radiator is warm. Spray from both sides of the radiator. Let it sit for about an hour then use a mild pressure spray from both sides and really flood what you put the Simple Green on. I usually overkill the fresh water flooding. My radiator (rear) is now 7 years old and is as clean as the day it was installed!

RE: 2000 Holiday Rambler endeavor info help

Closely check the generator, hours and get service records, if possible. If it has something like a Generac instead of an Onan, run, Don't walk. Exercise the levelers a number of times and same for the slides. Check the dates on all of the batteries, if more then 5/6 years old they will need to be replaced. Drive it at least 30+ miles and make sure the PAC brake is working right and that the coach doesn't wander or pull to one side or the other. To the extent you can determine the age of the diesel fuel in the tank and get the engine service records. Do a very close body and paint inspection. Good luck in your purchase!

RE: 2000 Signature hydraulic fluid

My 2003 Safari uses Dextron III. However, there is a specific protocol on either adding or changing the fluid you need to follow. Better check again with Monaco tech before you start the process.
