RE: Shocking! AC power tingle between frame and (real) ground

Oh yeah - the other thing that I forgot to mention was after those heavy rains the other day, the plug and socket of the 50/30 dogbone were under about 6" of water. We still had power but maybe something got corroded in there.

RE: Shocking! AC power tingle between frame and (real) ground

OP here.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check these out today. I'm betting hot and neutral might be reversed at the house receptacle.
For the record, I have my 50 foot 50A RV cord, plugged into a short 4 prong to 3 prong RV dogbone plugged into a 30 foot 30A RV extension. There is no light cord in the run.
I don't have a circuit tester but I guess that's on my shopping list now.

Shocking! AC power tingle between frame and (real) ground

I was doing something at the back of my RV today and I put one knee down into fairly damp earth (heavy rains here the other day). I steadied myself by leaning my right forearm on the bare aluminum hinges of my ramp. I didn't exactly get a 'belt' but I definitely got a strong tingling.
What's up with that? Is it dangerous?
For the record, our 5er is a 50A rig plugged into a 50/30 dogbone with a 30A extension plugged into a 30/15 adapter plugged into a regular household outlet (not GFCI).

RE: Wdw8 down to Wdw7 in laptop

Somebody probably sent you the 'new' .docx format.
I use Open Office and it is quite capable of handling .doc or .docx files.
Did I mention that it's FREE?

RE: Run time of Powered Vent on a Group 27 Battery?

Fridge and Water Heater will be on Propane.Fridge on propane still needs 12V to run control circuitry.

RE: Wdw8 down to Wdw7 in laptop

Yeah, I'm wondering what the problems are. Sounds like you're having trouble installing Word. Unless it's a really ancient version of Word, it should work.
In any case, as someone else has suggested, you can run a virtual machine inside Windows 8 where you install Windows 7. I presume you have a DVD and key for that.
I don't like the Windows 8 tile interface but once I found out I could run it in the point and click mode I'm used to and ignore all that kiddy tile stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to move to Windows 8 on a new machine (but I'm not going to upgrade this W7 machine - I already have W8 running in a VM).

RE: GFI trips at home when trailer plugged in

You cannot plug a trailer into another GFCI. They do not play nice with the GFCI that is already in your trailer.I do it all the time. No problems whatsoever.
Now if I start the generator in the trailer, THAT will trip the house GFCI.

RE: Schwintek two motor slide out retaining screw

Access to the Schwintech slide mechanism in my rig is from the outside. Just unscrew the cover plate.

RE: electric brake "breakaway" cable

I was wondering if it wouldn’t be better to secure the cable to the truck bed and not the hitch. I’ve never heard of this happening, but what if the hitch came out of the bed rails and the cable is hooked to the hitch?Exactly what I do.

RE: Over Weight?

I think some commonsense needs to be involved.
Example, my GCVWR is only around 20K because I have 3:42 gears but the same exact truck is rated for 30K with 4:10 gears. My combined weight is 28,240# I am not being unsafe at all! I may wear out my drivetrain a bit sooner but I am just as safe as the 30K rated truck.30K in a 2011? I don't think so. Please point me to the reference. I didn't buy a Ram in 2011 because it could not handle my rig. 2011 Chev does.
The '11 Dodge/Cummins has a tow rating up to 2270 lbs with a 30000 lb GCWR depending on truck models per '11 Dodge Body Builders Guide. http://www.rambodybuilder.com/2011/docs/ram/rammlup3500.pdfMy mistake. I wouldn't consider anything but crew cab, long box, auto, 4x4, dually and Laramie. That shows as GCWR 27,900 Maximum Trailer 19400.
I'm sure those ratings are higher than what was advertized when I was buying (but I've thrown out all my Ram literature so I can't check).
Odd that when I go to the 2013 Ramtrucks.com site the best I can find for that configuration is GCWR 25,000.

RE: best wheel bearing grease for TH with zirk/greasable hubs

Before heading out on a long trip I give each bearing a couple or three squirts with a grease gun until I feel resistance. Standard bearing grease. Works for me - never replaced a bearing.

RE: How much can the landing gears lift?

I was able to lift the front end of my previous rig about 1 foot to accommodate a sloping driveway. Not attached to the truck of course.
