RE: Free ice in the desert

I didnt see the part where those cups of ice were 50 cent. :h
That's what I'm thinking - SELL ice until you break even and then give it away.
Great idea!

RE: Onan/Cummins - HGJAB 5.5 Gas - Quits, wont stay running.

I was just about to reply with a response, but I see you figured it out. Mine did the same thing - fuel pump. ('07 with about 1300+ hours)
According to our tech at CW that works on them, it's very common on that gen when it gets to a certain age. And yes, it is heat related. Fuel pump heats up and shuts down, cools off and runs, heats up and shuts off. Over time the run period will get shorter and the cool off will take longer, until it just quits altogether.
A good test is - As soon as it dies, hit the prime switch and see if you can hear the pump run. If not, it's the pump. I changed mine out and no more problems.

Anyone familiar with the Google Chromebook?

After 7 years I finally replaced my tired old laptop with an Acer netbook from Best Buy. It's a Google Chromebook, got a good price on it ($155) and I'm very happy with it's speed and ease of use.
Here's my question - At time of purchase, I bought the Kaspersky Internet Security disks on the recommendation of the salesman at Best Buy. When I got home and tried to install it, the computer says it can't download the file (exe) and I need to install "the appropriate app" for it to download.
How do I know what app I need?
Additionally, the user guide for the Chromebook says it comes set up with virus protection and everything is backed up online. So, I'm wondering if I even need the Kaspersky, or if I should get my money back?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Al

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

After the Christmas Campout, spent the better part of the weekend giving her a good interior cleaning, stem to stern, and getting her back in her spot next to the house.
OK, . . . now I'm ready to go again!

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Pulled it out of storage a few weeks back and cleaned her up. Then pulled it over to Hemet so my daughter can stay in it a few months tell she gets a house.
Then the best part. Just added a new Wife to the pink slip:B
Congrats!
I know it's been a long road, Joe.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Got home from work last night and decided to pull the TH around to the driveway, so we could start loading for the Christmas trip. Front cap looked pretty grungy, so thought I would just give it a quick wash. As long as I was at it the LP bottle cover needed a good scrubbin', too.
Once that was done, the rest of the trailer looked pretty bad. Figured I could just do the door side - after all, that's the only side anyone will see, once we're set up. Got that side done, and what the heck, still got soap in the bucket - the rear ramp and facia won't take long.
Fortunately, about this time the GF returned from the store with some cold Silver Bullets, so I had to take a break. After replenishing the electrolytes in my system, I had the energy to go ahead and do the off-door side.
So, about 2 & a half hours and 4 beers after starting - the whole thing was washed and ready to start loading.
The rain didn't start for a good 10 minutes.
Oh well, it's clean . . . and rainwater rinsed!

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Not so much on the TH, but gave the buggy some much-needed TLC. It started having carb problems about a year ago and stranded me a couple of times. Attempts to fix it worked only to the extent that it stranded me FARTHER from home. In the meantime, it has been sitting on 2 flat tires on a trailer, covered with a tarp providing housing for all sorts of critters. Sad, I know. Just been busy with other stuff.
So, about a week ago I ordered a new carb for it and installed it last weekend. Once it was running, I aired up the tires and unloaded it from the trailer. Satisfied that it was running again, I was inspired to replace the old worn out taillights with LED's and give it a good cleaning. It even got some Christmas decorations and has made several trips around the neighborhood checking out the Christmas lights.
Looking forward to getting it in the dirt again, now!

RE: Weber Q-Grill Problem

Yes.
I've had 2 of them stop flowing LP (I was gonna say "passing gas", but decided against it) after several months of use. I've heard that the ones with the POL fitting (vs the ACME nut) are less prone to failure.
In processing returns for our CW store, I get them back all the time.

RE: Another season comes to an end....

This is so sad. I HATE Florida summers yet we still managed to camp at least one weekend per month but NOW the fun starts!! Highs in the low 80's, lows in the 50's; camping season is HERE!
Oh yaaaa ! CWAC (Camping Without Air Conditioning) season is finally here!

RE: 10/11/12

Guess I'll be winterizing the TH. Overnite lows are predicted to hit the mid-60's this weekend. It might not be necessary, but it seems like everyone else on the .net is doing it and I don't want to feel left out.

RE: Record cold and snow to hit Great Plains

Looks like colder weather is headed this way, as well. Overnight lows Friday night are predicted to plummet below 70 degrees for the first time in about 7 months.
. . . and yes, you WILL see locals in jeans and sweaters.

RE: Onan generator problem

Not sure what model you have but on my Marquis 5500 here's what I've learned. Start with the cheapest and simplest fix - SeaFoam, change filters, and do a tune up.
If it's running rough or surging - probably the carb. Very common issue with Onans and easy to replace yourself.
If it's the fuel pump it will run for a while and then die. The fuel pump gets hot and shuts down. After it cools off it will again start, run and die. This "run" duration will get shorter and the required "cool-off" time will get longer until it quits all together. I'm told this is also a very common issue with mid-2000's era Onans. (Mine's an '07)
To be sure, hit the "prime" button right after it dies and the pump is still hot. If you here nothing, it's the pump.

RE: Another reason to love the trailer - Oktoberfest

I have taken mine to a couple of Super Bowl parties at a friend's house and parked in a vacant lot right next door. Not so much that we over-indulged, but could have a few beers without worry. Plus, the roads are full of amateurs that night, so why risk it?

RE: Gray Water Dilemma

Also, I experimented a few years ago with using a fresh water filter attached to the discharge via a termination cap with the garden hose fitting. It let it drip out at a rate of about 2 gallons in 24 hours, and then clogged with food debris.
