RE: Cleaning the curtains in front window of coach

The front drapes or curtains are hanging with drape hooks. They need cleaning. Have you had good luck washing or do you dry clean. Do not want to ruin them, just clean and brighten up. 2003 HR Endeavor. Thanks. The drapes are lined.

Wife washed ours in washing machine, gentle cycle, cold water, hang dry after aligning pleats, then ironed and they looked brand new after that.

Exact same thing happened to me and it was the breaker on the inverter. I got suspicious when there was no power going to the GFI plug as measured at wires behind/going to the back of the plug.

I put my battery powered MIFI jet pack in my shirt pocket and take my tablet shopping (etc). They advertise 4 hour battery life. Don't need to pay for smartphone service.

Agree, the mechanical 8.3 with the Allison tx best combination in the business. Not real happy with the roadmaster chassis since they are out of business and I had a heck of a time finding air bag replacements. But the rest of the drive train out weighs that disadvantage. Isn't the dynasty the only one built with iron/steel frame? Believe the others may use aluminium since I know they are lighter so not sure how it windson would have handled the roll.
It is our plan to pull one of the sofas and put in a booth dinette if there isn't already a booth dinette in the coach. But the 40 foot over all length make it apparent it wasn't the best fit for us. I may have to readjust search and move up to 35 feet or even 36 feet but for now looking for a 34 footer.
As far as gas versus diesel generators I figure the additional cost and size for the diesel generator probably prompted the builder to go with a gas gen.
Thanks for the comments. Anyone driving a mh that comes close to meeting my criteria, let me know so I can search for that brand and model. So far know Monaco Dynasty, but have got to be some others out there. Thanks
Look at Country Coach. They built the strongest chassis in the industry (IMO). We have the 2003 36' Allure since 2004 and wouldn't want any other coach. They did go out of business a few years ago, but are back up and running for repairs only right now with plans to start manufacturing soon. They are in Oregon and have consignments onsite. They built 32s, 34s and 36'(etc) MHs.

I know this company is out of business . At the time when they were building them were they considered a good coach? I have found a few that look really nice and they are more competitively priced than the Monaco's I have been looking at. I have found a few 2000 to 2002 that I can afford but before I go any further I would like to know how they compare. I have also found a couple of Country coach alure's book on the truck is much lower that what these guys are asking , they are all close to 20 -23 thousand over high retail NADA book whats up with that? Thanks
As i recall, they had hydraulic brakes VS air brakes. CC has one of the best/ruggedest/strongest chassis in the industry.

What I'm now wondering if there was something screwy about the version of FSD designed for Country Coach. Here is why. Many years ago when I talked to Justin about finding shocks for the front of my coach, he came up with a part number that was compatible with the size shock I needed. The shock was designed to be used 4 shocks for 1 12,000 lbs axle. In my case, my axle weight is 5K, so a pair of shocks designed for 6K was not too far off. In reality, it was just right for about the first ~15K+ miles. at the time, I liked them well enough that I order a set of 4 for the rear. Modified the mount so they would fit. Now in that case, my rear axles only carry ~4K lbs, so the shock was plenty heavy enough for the load. It was a touch stiff, but way softer than the Monroe's that I pulled off. Over the years, I have noticed they have worn some. It just seems strange to have a front set that totally wore out, and a rear set with considerably less stress also wore measurably. SO here is the crazy part: We have one other complaint about FSD's wearing out at 25K miles, and I'm pretty sure it is the same part number shock is what wore out on my coach. (I actually bought my rear sets from Country Coach, when they were going under)
Installed the FSDs on the front of my 36' CC and they were shot after 15K. Koni replaced them with non FSDs. My front axle is rated for 12K,but weigh about 9K.

It's a global market that keeps growing and is not going away (IMO). We can either shun it and isolate ourselves or embrace it and learn how to compete globally. I vote the latter.

On the Cummins engine, around the 2007 time frame (i think), there was a recall or campaign related to failure of the piston wrist pins. Make sure you don't get one of those engines. The Cummins' fix was to install a cockpit warning system to let the driver know of an imminent catastrophic engine failure. You can call Cummins with the engine serial # to find out if a particular engine is effected.

I'd be willing to bet the outlet will rotate without loosening anything. If the outlet part is aimed away from the opening simply grab it and twist it the direction you want it to move. Look at the "Y" piece of plumbing with the open end. Where it "Ys" on each side you will see the respective black and grey valves. That's where it will rotate without loosening anything.
That should aim the outlet straight down to the hole.
Ask an rv neighbor if I wasn't clear.
My combined black/grey water exit plumbing will rotate inboard or outboard. Takes a little muscle, but it is designed to rotate without loosening anything.

Try loosening the filter a bit while the prime pump is running. Wrap a rag around the top to absorb any escaping fuel/air or it could get messy. I've also heard of compressed air injected into the fuel tank via a compressor hose wrapped/sealed with a rag through the filler neck.

I had same problem and it was both of the rear spark plug wires. Plug wire problems are well known in the 8.1.
X3. Check the spark plug wires. Mine melted on previous 8.1 coach

For what it's worth, changing a fuel filter on a 6.7 Cummins is a bit of a PITA to begin with. Changing this fuel filter when broke down on the side of the road would be a ROYAL PITA. Just my opinion.
Mine are readily accessable and easy to change. Best to change them before they fail so you don't have to change them on the side of the road. If i see discoloration or stuff in the glass bowl on the filter, i change the filters at a convenient location.

Get maintenance free batteries, which should emit less (none?) acid gas. I just changed my two house 8ds and spec said they weighed 162 lbs each.
The CAT 8D maintenance-free start battery had the highest CCA rating (1500) on the market two years ago.

Checked the Department of Energy website. If I am reading them correctly it says that the move to ULSD had the unintended consequence of causing "lubricity" problems and that bio-diesel blends solve this problem with blends as low as 1% bio diesel. But the bio-diesel had the unintended consequence of plugging fuel filters and other forms of damage, especially to older vehicles not designed to tolerate bio-diesel. They also admit that your vehicles warranty might not be any good if you use bio-diesel. What they do not admit is that this mess is all their fault. Idiots.
The reason bio-diesel plugs up the filters is because it cleans your whole fuel system, which a good thing if you carry spare fuel filters and can change them yourself. As stated, bio-diesel has superior lubricity benefits over ULSD and you may notice your engine running smoother and quieter. I've read that bio-diesel will gel quicker than ULSD though, so maybe not a great option in the winter months. I personally like bio-diesel and will use it in the summer months when convenient, but I carry spare filters.

I'm well aware that JOHNSON CONTROLS makes quite a few batteries under quite a few different names.
For the past years, I've been using DEKA batteries (East Penn mfg) both for my 27 series 12V and the (2) GC-2 for my 6 volt batteries. Good service...no problems. Now, after 4 years, it's time for new batteries.
Yesterday, went to SAMS CLUB. Browsing thru their stock of batteries, they carry this band "DURACELL" in the sizes (and voltages) I need. I noticed that these were made by East Penn Mfg....I presume the same outfit (DEKA).
The warranty seems the same (3 years on the 12V and 1 year on the 6v), I wonder what the difference(s) might be. I tried their "contact us" twice...but got a page of "errors"...maybe they don't want to hear from me...an "end user"? I wonder what the differences (other than things like AH) might be? Quality? Materials?
I think the difference in 3 year and 1 year warranty on batteries is whether they are deep cycle or not. The deep cycles seem to carry the 1 year warrantys?
