RE: Sliding dinette table – lock replacement

Great idea as usual, Bruce. That little thumbscrew did the same thing on our table (gouged the underside of the table, too). I would like to do a mod that would get rid of the wobbly support poles all together. I've never really thought that our table was that stable. Thanks for the pics and post. Say hello to Kim for us. Dave.

RE: Air compressor system - DoOver

I'm guessing the two leads on the back of the gauge are for an internal dash lite option so they can be illuminated when you turn on your running lights?Exactly. I tied it into the dimmer switch.
Wow deja vu
course there's not a lot of options. Good job!
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e178/AnEv942/P3250005s.jpg height=480 width=640
I see they've changed the gage-that would be worth updating to. Ours the numbers are really small and the graduations are 7 1/2#increments? -there also at the perimeter of face so cant see them while driving.
As to comp location, I mounted our compressor in virtually identical location-its been there since Feb of 04 with no problems. The only difference I can see is my comp has a remote air intake that I located in cab. Even so I get a lot of water in the separator. I don't see one on yours?
I hadn't taken pics of our compressor install, now Ill just point to yours if someone asks :)
MarkNo separator. I think I'll look into that.
I gotta ask: how in the world did you manage to assemble the gauge & fittings up under the dash? I find that every time I try to work under there it's a royal pain, due to bifocals & laying on my back bending in three directions.
BobIt wasn't easy, that's for sure.
1999??? that undercarriage is too clean to be that old.We don't need to use road salt all that much down here. Pretty much never. It's sure nice to the vehicles.

Air compressor system - DoOver

Well...I finally got around to installing the "new" Air Lift Controller I compressor system. Here is my previous post on the subject:After I installed my AirLift Sureset I started having trouble with the pressure transducers. One of the transducers was sending a no pressure signal to the controller which in turn was sending more air to the bag. Luckily I was dumping my tanks at the time and heard the compressor kick on. The bag was nearing 100 PSI and I was able to pull the connector out of the controller before it popped. AirLift sent me a couple of new transducers and everything was fine for a about a year.
Lately, I’ve been getting erroneous readings (fluctuating, different than what my analog gauges are reading) so I again called AirLift.
They said that they cannot get parts for the Sureset system any longer and that they will do an even swap for the dual path Load Controller 1 system or upgrade to the
Air Lift WirelessAIR Remote System for an additional $199. Which is a little odd because the WirelessAIR system only costs $80 more if it's purchased new.
??????????
Either way I'm going with the old tried and true analog gauge, two needle, dual path system. I'm tired of the digital system and it's erratic operation. I hope they got the bugs worked out of the wireless system but I'm just not willing to take that chance.
Has anyone else had problems with their Sureset system?
Anyone have the wireless system? Any problems? Compliments? Compaints?
BTW - You can still purchase the SureSet system for $300. :?:?:?:? (Hope you don't need any parts!)
Dave.
I ended up putting the gauge, toggle switch, and deflation buttons in the dash instead of using the supplied gauge panel.

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p12/luv2skyski/misc/Air%20Lift%20Controller%20II%20install/gaugeinstalledcu.jpg
"IMPORTANT: All preassembled gauge panels have been 100% leak and function tested. Do not attempt to tighten, loosen, or adjust any fittings or connections. This will likely cause a leak or malfunction and void the warranty."
They are not kidding. Of course it leaked. Specifically the brass "tees" that go from the gauge to the deflation buttons. The radius on the air lines was too severe so I ran two air lines from the firewall. One went directly to the deflation button and one went to the gauge:

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p12/luv2skyski/misc/Air%20Lift%20Controller%20II%20install/airlineteesatfirewall.jpg
(air line/tees only near steering linkage for photographic purposes)
I built a shelf/splash shield for the compressor and solenoid assembly to sit on. I already had a couple of holes in the bed where a pork chop box was mounted to attach the aluminum angle. It mounts in the space between the truck bed and bedside:
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p12/luv2skyski/misc/Air%20Lift%20Controller%20II%20install/pumpandsolenoidsinstalledonshelfspl.jpg
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p12/luv2skyski/misc/Air%20Lift%20Controller%20II%20install/pumpandsolenoidsinstalledonshelf.jpg
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p12/luv2skyski/misc/Air%20Lift%20Controller%20II%20install/wiringharnessairllinesgoingtosoleno.jpg
Hopefully this is far enough out of the way and the shelf large enough to prevent direct splash to the compressor or solenoid valves.
Later, Dave.

Speed Control Deactivation Switch Recall (09S09)
Speed Control Deactivation Switch Recall (09S09)
Ford is recalling all remaining vehicles – approximately 4.5 million U.S. vehicles – equipped with Texas Instruments speed control deactivation switches.
While the data show the majority of the vehicles being recalled do not pose a significant safety risk, we are recalling the vehicles to reassure customers and eliminate any future concerns.
This recall affects older models, including discontinued vehicles. The majority is greater than 10 model years old, with some up to 18 model years old.

RE: Hot Water Heater Damage? - Interior Pics

Hey, Bob. We have the same camper (2 years difference) but your heater looks like its mounted 90 degrees from the way mine is mounted. Mine is an Atwood G6A-8E. Here are some pictures of my water heater when I did the Hott Rod mod.
Have you looked under the insulation to see what kind of shape the tank is in?
I agree with some of the other replies in that if it's not leaking and heating the water not to worry about it but on the other hand if you look under the insulation and there are any cracks at all I would be worried that it would only be a matter of time before it would turn into a leak when the tank gets pressurized.
Later, Dave.

RE: Anyone seen one of these?

I was actually talking about the ATC tower. They just built it. You can also see the new International terminal (Atlanta) which is under construction. :B:B:B
Midas Smokey - my parents had a 19 1/2' travel trailer made by this company, that was back in the mid 70's; I don't know whatever happened to the company, but this truck camper has all of the same external details as that vintage TT.
Tom
It's a Midas-Smokey. Built in New Tazewell, TN in the 70's. I bought a (new) 1976 Midas Class-C that I kept for 21 years. Midas was bought by the Pepsi Co. in the late 70's or early 80's and discontinued the Brand.
Thanks Tom and James. That's what I was wondering about.
Later, Dave.

RE: Need actual weight on NL ten 2000

My 04 10-2000RR empty weight is 3340. That's with the following mods: bumper + steps, A/C, microwave, cadet, hott rod, intellipower converter, tv, expansion tank and a full tank of water (water tank = 36 gals = 300 pounds when full (8.34 #'s/gallon). I, too, upgraded to 19.5's. Later, Dave.
p.s. Also full propane (40 lbs).

RE: Anyone else having problems with the AirLift Sureset system?

Where do U see the Wireless for $279? CW wants $480 and the cheapest I can find is $311, Since you already have a pump and lines, all you need is the transducer and controller. Will Air Lift just sell you those parts to retrofit?I'm sorry for your confusion. I was trying to say that the difference in price between the Load Controller I and the WirelessAir system was $80 if both were purchased new (from summit racing). Not $199 + $80.
The reason I can't just get parts to retrofit is that they said that the connectors on the new pump and my pump are not compatible.
