RE: Which GPS

Read about the Good Sam GPS in the latest "Highways" magazine so checked it out at Camping World. Saw the Magellan RV9165T-LM. Seemed to have the same features particular to RV's but with free lifetime updates.
Does anyone have an opinion with reasons for which one to choose?
My Good Sam GPS arrived yesterday, Looks good so far, will be leaving camping today. Should know more soon.

RE: Non-RV snowbird rentals in Tucson

This is a popular site for searching for vacation rentals.
Real easy to navigate the web site by city state etc. And real good details on rates and contacts.
Vacation Rentals By Owner
http://www.vrbo.com
In Green Valley Villas East & Villas West are the more reasonably priced but smaller & older.

RE: Non-RV snowbird rentals in Tucson

Hundreds of Condos for rent in Green Valley AZ just south of Tucson. A beautiful, clean, quiet, and safe retirement community with quick access to Tucson. Many Green Valley realtors are also property managers for the rentals.
Be sure your rental includes access to the many recreation centers. Many of the condos have mountain views to the east.

RE: RV GPS's????

I had the older model, dropped it & broke the screen. It wasn't perfect but I liked it well enough that I am buying a new one.

RE: Monthly prices in RGV

Really hard to give averages. As I recall you can spend anything from $150/mo to $900/mo. WE stayed at a couple really nice sites in Victoria Palms (Donna) and Llano Grande (Mercedes) which were about $750 but I would guess that most acceptable parks would run around 4-500. THere are 1st timer specials that will get you in way below that. It depends on what you want. We stayed in Bentsen Grove a few years ago (I think it was 400) and it was great. Retima Village looked nice but was more $. In any event the RGV is way cheaper in general that south Florida and CA.
Pretty much right on, the longer you stay the lower the monthly rate so if you were to stay 6 months in the same place you could get a really great deal. Don't be afraid to try to negotiate a better rate for a long term stay, nearly all parks had vacancies last winter. Also ask about the discounts for new residents, some nice parks are offering a month or two for $200.00 a month or less. Nearly all parks you pay extra for elect so be sure to ask the charge for that. DO NOT make long term reservations without seeing the park or your site. Great parks may have some bad sites near the expressway or dump station and So So parks can have some really great sites. Find a spot for a week or so and visit many parks to find one you like. Retama Village offers 2 or 3 free nights if you talk to their sales person. Nearly 500 parks in the Valley so room for everyone. A few nice parks on Bentsen Palm Drive west of Mission away from the expressway noise.

Mesa Verde RV Resort
Very nice, full hookups just outside of the Park entrance.
Only 1/2 of a mile east of Mesa Verde National Park, between Mancos and Cortez on Hwy 160 on the north side.

RE: icky texas coast

I've heard of people being kept indoors by cold, or rain, or extreme heat, but I've never heard of anyone getting cabin fever from being kept inside by a "30 mph" wind.Apparently you've never been to the RGV! :) It was very windy this past winter and lots of people (with smaller rigs) complained of cabin fever.
Hmmm, We have spent the last 8 winters there and the wind was seldom an issue where we were.

RE: Photo Hosting recommendations

Auctiva has a free hosting site for use on ebay, but I have posted photos here using it and if you do sell anything on Ebay it makes that process painless. There is free and paid version.
This is also what I use, I also sell on eBay.

RE: How best to get to Durango Colorado

Wolf Creek pass is not difficult, the road is wide with pull offs. Just gear down & go slow, don't ride your brakes. Been on many worse than wolf creek.

RE: So what's your take on this article?

Five years ago there was so much "Rainbows and Sunshine" posts that it was a real eye opener for the DW and I when we hit the road.
I believe what I said was the birds were singing, the butterflies were flying and the weather was heavenly & I was probably sipping a frozen Margarita on my patio in Jan. or Feb.
IMO it couldn't get much better than that after spending nearly a lifetime of winters in Minnesota.

RE: So what's your take on this article?

A developed RV lot can be purchased for $18,000. to $20,000. A lot with a mobile home or park model slightly more or a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with garage brick home starting at about $100,000.
I can understand and agree with you about some of the amenities but $20m for just the lot AND $100 for a trailer?! :E
You mis-read, $100,000. gets you a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, & garage stick built brick house.
