RE: What's the Best Allergy Medicine for Dogs...

We did the allergy testing with Leon Redbone. From there he went on the allergin injections. They knocked the misery back a ton but not totally so I did dose him with pred from time to time when the scratching got out of control again.
But I wonder about the scratching the rear end too. Its such an unusual spot.

RE: winter in a Motor Home

If you are parked and not moving for a while adding Reflectix to the underneath of the slide out does a ton to keep things warmer. Lining the under bed compartment for D pushers keeps the bed warmer. Lining the closets on outside walls keeps them from sweating. Lining the utility cabinet and holding tank compartments raises the effectiveness of the heat provided whether by lamp or duct. Sliding it down behind the couch provides another bit of protection for the cold penetrating the wall and thus the couch.
These days I use it to insulate my show bird coops.

RE: Travels with Big Dogs

What I do in my mini minivan (and everything else I've driven) is to get a box or storage tub or a cooler that will fit the space between front and back seats and be about level with the back seat. Then I throw a sleeping bag or quilt over the mess to level it out. That way I get storage for a few items (could be a tool box/emergency kit/first aid kit, or whatever else you want in there...) and a sleeping bag in case of cold weather emergencies, and they get a nice big deck to lay on.
That is the same thing I've done with my GMC extended cab. Usually milk crates are tall enough to match seat height. Of course you have to do that fitting for the tallest person riding in the truck. Not sure you'd have the head room but I then put a dog bed over the milk crates and the back seat.

RE: Best Route Through Atlanta

My brother lives just outside Atlanta. His recommendation is early, early morning prior to the rush hour......4am the best or between 10am and 3pm.
Having lived in GA and driving in that area I would strongly recommend the very early morning idea. I can't tell you how many times I sat in traffic in the middle of the day for no other reason than someone screwed up.

RE: RESOLVED!!! Bad dealing with AdventureRV.net

Good grief, you all are acting like a bunch of old men. Looking for fault and being suspicious all over the place. In case you've never noticed even the best run, most dependable companies have a screw up from time to time. The thing that makes them a company to return to is their response to a problem created on their end. If true, that the employee was new, then the initial response is not that unusual. Guess some of you have never worked in retail.
Monitoring boards? How many of you work full time jobs and yet check this forum every single day? Which happens to be the best known, most widely read for general RV information on the net?
Sure, this poster might be a troll. Might even be a troll for the company in question but the responses over all are a little disappointing for a group I have great respect for.

I wonder if the hubs would shoot me if I told you to bring it down to S. TN and store it here.

RE: Geico

Unless something has changed Geico writes the coverage through Foremost. That's how our MH was set up three or four years ago. Then I cancelled the coverage with Geico after some confusion on Gieco's part and went straight to Foremost.

RE: alpha dog

Ditto what Dutchmen Sport said. In my case without the book. I've always established that I am the one they look to. There are strict routines followed in this house to reinforce that premise. I have never had a serious problem, just an occasional reminder needed when one tries to tip the apple cart.

RE: Storms & parked RV's

I was raised and spent 40 yrs in the midwest. My DW and I have twice had our homes damaged or destroyed by tornados, weathered severe hail storms, blizzards, and just plain old wind. Dec 31,1982 New Years Eve the wind chill factor was 68 degrees below zero.
I now live in the NW and don't worry about earth quakes.
Just came back from the midwest 23 days and 4200 miles. Dodged gully washer downpours, hail, and yes tornados. RV park evacuated. You wont' catch me in the OK,KS,NE tornado alley in May-June if I can in any way avoid it.
Toss TN in there. A tornado hit the Nacho Campground last month. Next stop would have been my house if the tornado had stayed on the ground.

RE: Opinions needed

And if you said, "sure I do" he would have called you cruel for hunting.
If you don't have unusual behavior problems from the dogs then I would say not being trained to hunt isn't something they miss.
If your dogs and family are happy with the way things are don't sweat it. I certainly wouldn't.

We spent nearly a year at Holiday Trav-L, can attest to the quality of the folks running it and the upkeep of the park. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

RE: The economy is affecting parks!

One other thing to consider, that many of those sites are populated by people who have had to move in to their RV's as their primary home. The husband parks in one place for extended periods of time, he began to notice the increase last year of people forced to sell their homes and move in to their RV's.

I think all of the cg's we stayed in had the changed their minds about when they were leaving move to a different site. We did have to wait once while the cg dealt with a late mover.

RE: satellite TV

We have Direct in the MH and they know its in the MH, no problem. We also have it in the house, they know that too. Dish is a nightmare to deal with for any reason unless its to get more money out of the customer.

RE: CAT PEE

Yeh, about this time I'd be changing vets. If you told them what occurred and what you saw in the litter box they should have insisted on the tests. I've got a cat that suffers from hyperthyroidism, she urinates a lot. I have to watch her for dehydration.
My vet is the one that pushed me for the tests. So glad I relented and had it done.

RE: remember my may pop tire post

p.s. On the serious side. Has anyone tried to avoid "Made in China" items lately. Very hard to do on a retirement income.
What does income have to do with it? With virtually everthing coming from China, it's hard not to buy Chinese regarless of your income status. The only thing not made in China these days is food and pharmaceutical products, but I beleive thats about to change also very soon.
ryoung
Actually quite a few of our drugs come out of China, remember the anti coagulant drug fiasco in the past year? There is concern that if the US ticks off China that will cut off the supply of many of our drugs needs here.
Lately they've identified that China is now putting other countries as the point of origin for manufacturing fake things. Now there is a debate going on about importing chickens from China. Just what we need, they poisoned our pets now let's work on the people.

RE: Work Camping on Private Property?

To the one question she's about 1/2 hour south of Albuquerque.
What I know, she's a single woman. Very maintenance challenged when it comes to reattaching a board on the side of the barn. She's also pretty unaware of what it takes to hook up an RV.
As to the amount of work, it sounds like its no where near a full time job. Here if they knew you had another residence on the property the taxes go up.
I've encouraged her to contact legal aid in her area to make certain there wouldn't be any issues legally with having someone camped out on her place.
I will pass your phone number on Web. And just maybe she'll join the group and will describe more of what it is she needs first hand.

Heck, I should post myself. I certainly could use the help around here. Got plenty of space for it and not far from the Nacho Campground.

Work Camping on Private Property?

Has anyone done that? What problems did you run in to? What was good about it?
Here's why I'm asking, I know of a single person who could use some help around her place. I told her if any responses I receive from the board are encouraging I would send them her way.
She lives on a bit of land out New Mexico way.
She also now has a link to the group so might decide to participate on this topic.

RE: do older cats lose weight

Yep, hyperthyroidism has struck at out house. My 15 yr old was diagnosed last year after a rush to the emergency vet on a Sunday. The methamazole has its own set of side effects. So knowing your cat will prove to helpful when it comes to dosing.
We have her daughter who is just starting to exhibit some of the same signs that blood work might be necessary in the near future to check her thyroid and her insulin levels.
Its worth the few extra dollars to have a geriatric animal blood tested. Its amazing how cats can hide a problem until it hits critical levels.
