Atwood Furnace Noise

My Atwood Hydro Flame 8940lll Furnce is nmaking a horrible squeally, grinding noise when i started it up. Could this be the Blower Motor bearings making that noise? If so can just the motor/blower wheel be replaced? I called my local RV repair and they said I needed a new heater at the cost of $1098.00 I think they may be taking advantage of an female senior citizen. LOL How hard would this be to replace if thats the problem and how can I visually check . Thanks for you help.

RE: Can't remove heating element

nbounder>>>>>>>It was NOT turned on with an empty tank. I live my Rv and it is parked permanately . The tank has not been emptied since I parked here . I believe the problem, as I stated, was the leak that was above the element and the builup on the back of the element where the electricial wires attatch. The RV store I went to said to replace the element. Thank you for your suggestions.

RE: Can't remove heating element

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the WD40.. no luck.... I guess I have to find someone who can put more "OOmmpph" on turning it. There is so little room to work on it and there is not much of the element to set the removal tool on. I have ordered a new ECO assembly thermostat because one of the wires were burned, probably from the water leaking on it from above, which is fixed now. I am hoping that that was why it would not heat ..Then I would not have to remove the element. FYI...The gas does not work

Can't remove heating element

I need to replace the heating element in my Atwood water heater. There had been a drip type leak in a line above the water heater and there is alot of calcium/mineral buildup around the heating element where it screws into tank from this leak. . I have been using CLR to remove this buildup and now can get the element removal tool onto it but I cannot get it to loosen. I am afraid to put too much force on it and ruin the water heater tank. Does anyone know how/or what I can spray on this to help loosen the element enough to remove it. Its been cold showers for a week and its not fun ...lol HELP!!!!!

Clips for Vent Door

The plastic outside vent door for the refrigerator has two little black twist clip things that hold it to the RV. Does anyone know if I can just get the clips and not have to get the entire door. Thanks

RE: Digital TV is ^%$#%^^4

Wow this has sure taken its own path. Technical mumble jumble. My original post just asked WHAT I can do to be able to enjoy TV again. I don't understand half of what has been talked about. All I want is to be able to see Channel 10 again. :W oh well

Solar Exterior Window Shades ?

I have been looking at installing or making outside window shades. I have seen several types on line. ie: EZ solar shades, RV Quick shades etc They seem to be expensive ...My question is does anyone have these exterior solar window shades and are the worth it. I have seen solar shade screening , not the garden shade cloth, in the screen area at Home Improvement stores alot cheaper I was wondering what the difference would be . other than $$$ Thanks . from 110 degree weather. Edited to ask.. why all the solar shade cloth fabric I find in BLACK..wouldn't that draw more heat?? Thanks

RE: AC fan/blower ?

This AC has not been idle. I live where the temps have been over 90 for the last month so it is run daily. I have to climb up on roof and remove shroud if I want to spin fan. You must have a different type of AC unit. Is there any kind of relay or ?? that would not be making a connection thus keeping the AC from Blowing when it is on COOL> The blower will blow when I put it on fan only.
