RE: Trouble Free Motorhome Owner?

2011 HR Endeavor - bought new in May 2011, one infant failure of hydraulic pump operating slides and jacks, supplier issue corrected in 1 week - only one other warranty item in first year (air dump valves wired wrong).
Year 2 (last year) - no dealer work required, only maint was yearly LOF.
Year 3 just started - 1 waaranty item corrected by Cummins (leaky front cover seal discovered during last year LOF)
Basically I would call that pretty good - we have been very happy with unit and it has a 23 ft long full wall slide that works perfectly.

RE: Tow Bar Level

Level is good - remember, when you brake - back of motor home may rise slightly and nose of toad should dip slightly with brake application (because front brakes on toad are generally biased to do more of the braking).

RE: Motorhome License Tags in Michigan

Mi plates are based on value of motor home as judged by formula by Sec'y of state office - plates on my coach - see sig - are over $1,000. Because they are based on "value" the fee is tax deductible so that helps a little bit (very little but a bit).

RE: dumping Comcast - need new e-mail host

OP here again, set up desk top with a USB NetGear wireless connection, loaded up my Virgin Mobile hot spot - 2GB for $35/mo and tried it all out.
Looks to be excellent for surfing, FB videos, e-mail, remote connection to wife's work computer. Shows 65 MBS connection speed in wireless control panel.
DirectTV coming tomorrow to set up Genie system in house. Will get 2 TV's set up with SD only boxes that I am hoping I can take to MoHo and use with my Carryout. Four TV's will be set up with Genie, main DVR (1TB) and 3 satellite boxes. Extra 2 TV's are older nonHD units in bedrooms we don't really use, will use those SD boxes in MoHo.
Has anyone done that with a Carryout? How well does it work?

RE: dumping Comcast - need new e-mail host

OP here - will be going to G-mail and in the process of checking out my g-mail account found that I could "import" all my comcast e-mail. Slick process and it only took a few minutes to bring all comcast e-mails over to Gmail including my folders (called something else in G-mail). Just need to figure out how to "sub-folder" in G-mail. All my Comcast folders came over without the "sub-folder" arrangement. Need to watch their tutorial.
Looks like G-mail should work fine - thanks again - always interesting discussions.

RE: brake buddy classic

Call the company - had to replace mine for similar issue - I think they sent mine at low/no cost. Not a big deal to replace and when I replaced, I also ran a separate fused line straight from the battery to a new lighter outlet (HD one from Wal-Mart). Part of original issue was not enough current from OEM lighter plug.

RE: dumping Comcast - need new e-mail host

OP here - thanks for all the suggestions.
I realize that right now comcast is both my ISP and e-mail address/host. When we go to DirectTV we plan on using our hot-spot we use when in the motor home. Will just add a wireless connection to desk-top to get it to connect through hot-spot. Solves several issues in that now it will be cheaper to run home internet connection through the hot-spot and will be a reason to keep that "live" even when we are not in the MoHo.
Have a G-mail account that I had to set up for another reason but never used. Will call Comcast and see if they dump the address when I dump the ISP and Video/Cable.
Thanks for all the input - Tom

dumping Comcast - need new e-mail host

Thinking about dumping Comcast for DirectTV - will need to use new e-mail host - who do you suggest?
Will Comcast forward email after we switch over?

RE: Retire?

Bought our first one 9 years ago at 53 and still not retired, maybe next year after 40 + years with one of the big three Auto mfrs.
Still enjoy my job but would love to not do the 40+ hr thing and get "more" use out of the rig. Plan on working part time even after retiring, gotta keep the mind busy and what the heck, earn some diesel money!

RE: 50 Amp Extension Cord

We have one 25' extension and have "needed" only once, but when you need it (really hot and want both AC's) and can't reach the 50 amp hook-up, you will be glad to have it. Once you sink the cost it just needs the space to ride along. I store mine against the wall of the compartment with the slide tray in it, fits between the tray and the wall of the compartment.

RE: "super slide" on coaches 42' to 45'.

Have a 23' full wall slide on ours - except for an infant failure on the hydraulic pump powering the slide, no problems since having that fixed. It was a known issue with pump and Mfr did a recall to correct.
Need to remember to open 2 windows when moving as the air exchange with that much space change is significant - works much better when the windows are open. Stand by them and you can feel the breeze as the volume changes in or out.
The full wall slide contains the sofa, kitchen, res fridge, stacked washer/dryer, and bedroom dressers. When open it really gives a spacious feel to Moho. We love the bath and a half floor plan and have no issues with the big slide. Model is HR Endeavor 43DFT - great coach!!

RE: Looking for Class A with 4 sldes

Holiday Rambler in that time frame also had an Endeavor 38PST floor plan - 3 slides but the one you lost was in the bedroom so not a big deal - same basic layout as quad slide with a little less foot room at end of bed. We had a 2004 38PST and it was quite nice - traded up to a 40PDQ quad slide - front of 2 coaches nearly identical in space - bathroom a walk-thru in both with separate toilet room. Only difference was no slideout at end of bed - bed did go out in the one slide in bedroom.
Might expand your choices if you would consider the 38PST - and from 06 on the 400 Cummins was std on the Endeavor, I think optional on the 05, 04 and below had the 8.1L 330 Cummins.

RE: Oil Change Interval Workhorse 8.1L

The clicky above takes you to a well written article about the oil life monitor system. It does not JUST go by miles but takes into account the temperature that you get the engine to and the time at those temperatures. In essence it looks at whether you are doing lots of long trips where you get the engine (and therefore the oil) up to temp so that you can get rid of moisture in the oil or whether you are doing lots of short trips where you never really get the oil warmed up.
The algorithm that controls the light then adjusts the interval based on your particular driving style.
I would be sure to change at least once a year though if you have not turned the light on in 12 months.
