RE: Driving with camper windows open?

Arctic Fox recommends all windows closed. The vacuum effect could suck in anything. Mine stays cool with everything closed while traveling.

RE: connect my sewer lineinto my home sewer system

There has been some discussion previously on this. Basically, if you tell the city you want an RV dump access point it becomes a big problem depending on your municipality. If you have a sewer clean out for maintenance purposes typically no problem. Research your local laws/rules if permit is required for the clean out install.

RE: Tow vehicle upgrade

There are numerous gear calculator on the Web. Figure out what rpm your truck would operate with what gear. Best to keep the the truck in its torque band while towing. Headers, exhaust and intake can help. Not sure if the results would be worth it. Will the comp cam maintain emissions? I would recommend looking into rear gears and maybe tranny shift kit upgrade. The tranny shift kit will make it shift a little abrupt. For gears I would start with 4.10. It sounds like you don't need alot. The other item with gears is the case break. You can change gearing and keep cost down if you avoid having to change out all internal components. 4.56 and 4.88 probably requires a complete internal swap. Does the truck have overdrive? Running down the road empty with tall gearing will wind out the engine.

RE: diferent smart phones

The Motorola phones usually will have 2db better signal than all others. The Motorola phones typically have a less than stellar camera. Most online professional reviews also agree. The current best battery in any phone is the Razr Maxx (HD). I've found the Razr phones to be laggy compared to my Samsung S3.
The Iphone 5 on Verizon can not do voice and data at the same time. This was an Apple decision. The fail rate for the Iphone 5 is slightly better than other high end phones. They still require resets and replacements. The camera on the Iphone 5 is normally rated high. If your invested in the Apple ecosystem the Iphone is probably for you. I'm not a fan of Itunes. I can usually tell when I'm talking with an Iphone person. The AT&T Iphone is the worst of all. The Motorola absolutely destroys the Iphone in call quality. I have yet to find an Iphone person admit their phone is the problem.
HTC just came out with the "One". Not available on Verizon. The One is highly rated. Given previous HTC phones upgrade track record and the quality I'd pass on HTC.
I've found LG phones internal memory system to be a mess. I recently played with an LG with a Quad Core processor and 2gb of ram. It was laggy. It also couldn't stream from my Seagate wifi hard drive.
Avoid Pantech.
The Samsung S4 just came out. I have the Vzw Samsung S3. I use NFC (Near Field Communication). I also use Wifi direct for large data transfer between devices. The S3/S4 also has AllCast for turning your TV into a mirror of the cellphone screen. I've heard Apple TV works better than AllCast. The S3 also has a great camera. The Samsung S3/S4 also has an easy mode. The screen is great for watching Youtube/movies. Call quality is also better than the Iphone.

RE: MiFi Service

Verizon 4g LTE can be very fast! On my phone I've seen 45mb down/21 mb up. Verizon 3G usually tops out at 1mb down/ 1mb up. Also recommend the appropriate Wilson Sleek. I've seen the Wilson Sleek for Verizon 4g at Amazon for $100. 3G version is around $75.
Price varies on Amazon, Wilson Sleek

RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

Have you called Dave Smith in Idaho for a quote? I saved $12-13$k on my early build 06' Mega versus buying local. I would've preferred local. That kind of savings was too much to pass on.

RE: Standard Transmission Fluid

Some have also called for over filling the G56 by 1quart. I just did a refill and overfilled by 1quart for the first time. I didn't notice any difference. I can say with the G56 do not over torque the shifter when reaching reverse and 5/6. When the truck was new my wife was not strong enough to reach reverse. She would use two hands. It eventually made the shifter really easy. I found spare parts at the drain plug. The shifter mechanism is sold as one piece. It appears to be a low fail item. It's also not cheap.

RE: Stolen Camper

This era of Ford trucks is easier to steal than most and I take additional precautions to safe keep mine. I posted recently about this on another forum.

RE: Blu Ray Players with standard DVD's

Dvd played in a bluray player are normally displayed in 720p. Dvd played in a dvd player usually played at 480i. BluRay disk in a blue ray player is usually 1080p. Most cable TV and satellite high Def is 1080i. There are exceptions.

RE: I can not get my fresh water pumping again

Do you have a shut off switch for the water pump to winterize? Mine affects isolates the hot water tank while on the pump.

RE: I can not get my fresh water pumping again

My TC does not like having air bubbles in the drain lines. After flushing the lines, I leave city connection on. Then open the the manual drain valves to remove an additional air bubbles. Then fill the fresh tank. This minimizes the air bubbles to Pump feed line only. Did you fill the hot water tank while on city water?

RE: tablet with flash player?

For a cheap Android tablet check out the 7" Google Nexus. Last week Frys had it on sale $150. The Google I/O conference is this week. Google is probably going to update the specs on the tablet. The old version should go on sale. Not all cheap tablets are created equal. The Nexus should last for some time.
As mentioned, some tablets can side load Flash.

RE: Verizon droid - losing pictures

Also, recommend Google+ or Dropbox for automated backups. I typically set friends phones to backup when on wifi and connected to power. This uses no mobile data and won't drain the battery while away from power.

RE: Water in Fuel

Draining the WIF on a Dodge is easy. Should be in the owners manual for your Chevy. I would consider having the tank emptied. Some places have a suction ability for people that accidentally place Unleaded in their Diesel. I would properly dispose of the bad fuel. Don't try to clean it.
When draining the WIF, if possible drain into a clear container to make sure there is water. It may take some time to separate. When at home I temporarily place an old heater hose over the WIF drain line. This keeps it from dripping on the front axle. I would not drive any further than the next exit to at least temporarily drain the WIF.

RE: 2000 Dodge Cummins with 3.55 gears

Highly recommend a steering stabilizer for the steering box. It's a frame to frame bolt on that stops the steering box from flexing on the frame. The increase I steering ability is nice.

RE: Use of air bags

stable loads in place of the stock overload spacers should solve your issue and bring the overload springs back into play
Highly recommend this option. The Torklift Stable Loads would immediately engage the overloads. Most likely you would continue to use 30psi in the airbags. When I added Stable Loads I reduced my airbags from 80psi to 45psi. Another friend added Stable Loads to his Dodge with light camper. Airbags were not needed.

RE: new tv or fixing up the old one...

That price seems high for used 2010. Have you considered new? Lower finance rate could make a new vehicle cheaper than used. Happened to me with my 2006 Dodge. Maybe look out of state? Will not exempt from your states taxes. Check Dave Smith Motors in Idaho. They sell new GM and Dodge. I bought my 2006 model in 2005 for $12k cheaper in Idaho than buying local.
