Gulf Coast RV Parks

I am interested in finding an RV park on the Mississippi or Alabama Gulf coast. Is there anything actually on the beach?
Thanks,

RE: Onan gen experts needed ??.

Neil,
I called my "expert" friend and told him your problem. He said it would probably be one of two different things: low oil pressure sensor or the remote stop switch. You said the oil was OK, so it probably is the switch. He said it is the cut-off switch on the box at the generator. If you open the box, check to see if there is a loose wire close enough to the off switch to make contact with it when jolted from a bump in the road. He has found this to be a problem is some models. Let us know.

RE: Onan gen experts needed ??.

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have a good friend who lives near me, who has worked on them for years. He is retired and is always willing to answer my questions about my two Onans. Post your problem, and I will ask him. Others may learn from the answer.

RE: 1997 Ford Chassis (F53) running hot?

I don't think you have a real problem, Joe. My 460 registers just like yours. It is OK for the guage to fluctuate in a big block engine. As long as it stays in the "NORMAL" range, it is fine. When you should be concerned is when it remains on the high end. My cooling fan kicks in as yours does. It is supposed to do so. It is a big fan and is noisy. In my opinion, you have no need for alarm.

RE: Ford F53 Fuel Pump 1996 newmar

You are probably not going to find just the pump and socks. They are only sold as a complete unit usually. Some are in the 150.00 range and some are in the 350.00 range.

RE: 97 Southwind class A RV on F53 Ford chassis 460 engine

Reggie,
I have a 97 F53 chasis on mine and I have the same issue occasionally. Mine has an anti-theft ignition system in which the key has a chip in it that must connect with the ignition system in order for the starter to engage. It could be that the wireless connection t has some interference. If you have a second ignition key, try it and see if acts any differently. Good Luck.

RE: buffing motor home by self

I just finished putting four coats of ZEP wet look floor finish on mine and it gave an amazing finish. I used a bottle sprayer and a Swiffer pole and pad to apply it. Easy and very inexpensive.

RE: Intermitent Cruise control , Ford F53

I have a 1997 with the same chasis. I had the same problem for a while and then it started blowing a fuse. The same fuse that breaks the brake lights and emergency flashers, breaks the cruise because of the brake pressure switch which is located on the brake pedal. Ford had a recall on mine and I took it in. They replaced the pressure switch and installed a fusable link in the circuit. It still blew the fuse and stopped the cruise from working as well as the lights. I began tracing it down yesterday, cleaning the contacts in the bulb sockets and then inspecting the wiring from rear to front. I found a plug in the line near the rear of the motorhome which had labeled wires extending that were not connected to anything. They, evidently were there to be used for connections to a towable. The wires were not closed on the end, just cut. I separated them so none could ground out to the frame. Took a ride and everything worked great. Evidently the brake wire was grounding to the frame as I traveled because of the vibrations. I will be using wire nuts to close each of the exposed wire ends when I get a chance.
Yea!! Problem solved.
Hope this helps,

Fuse Blowing: HELP!!!

The fuse that breaks the brake lights, emergency flashers and cruise control is blowing when the brake pedal is pushed. It only happens when the cruise is on. I had a recall replacement of the brake pressure switch done by the Ford dealer. It did not fix the problem. It is a 20 amp fuse. Any ideas where to start finding the short?
All suggestions appreciated.

RE: Help! Can't Find It!!

Thanks, Guys
The dealer replaced that switch, Richard. I thought that was the problem from the beginning but it wasn't. It has to be a short in the cruise circuit, I think, because when I replace the fuse, the brake lights work fine, the emergency flashers work fine, and the cruise works fine until I hit the brake. Then everything stops working because the fuse is blown. I checked the steering wheel switches (cruise) and they do not blow the fuse. It only blows when I am driving with the cruise on and hit the brake.
The fuse is a 20 amp, so I don't want to put in a larger one because of fire posibility.

RE: 7.4 vortec ticking noise

I just finished repairing mine. I found the exhaust manifold leak by starting the engine and crawling into the wheel well on right side. I simply moved my hand around the manifold without touching it and soon found the hot air leak blowing out the rear cylinder. It is almost always the rear cylinder where most of the exhaust heat builds up. Mine is very quiet now. Lots of work, but worth it.

RE: Help! Can't Find It!!

Thanks, Timster.
I took it in this morning and had the recall parts replaced. Everything worked great for about a mile. The cruise control worked until I hit the brake. That blew the fuse. Ford dealer said they would do nothing else under the recall. Where do I start on the cruise as I try to find the short? Any ideas?
Thanks,

RE: Help! Can't Find It!!

Well, I drove it to the tire shop and had a new set of tires installed and when I left, the same fuse was blown again. It is a 97 Ford Class A Fleetwood Pace Arrow. The fuse breaks the circuit for the brake pressure switch, (which controls the cruise control), hazard flashers, and brake lights.
How and where do I start to find the short? All suggestions appreciated.

New Tires

I need new tires for all wheels on my Pace Arrow. It takes
LT 235/85R16. What brand tire is best? Where to shop? What brand do I want to avoid?
Any suggestions?

RE: Help! Can't Find It!!

Thanks, Phil.
I checked mine and there it was. I checked the fuse and it was blown. Put in a new one and the cruise, flashers, brake pressure switch, and brake lights all work. My instrument cluster is loose from the dash. It is not mounted to the dash. Just sits there. Is this normal. Is yours like that?
Thanks, Again

Help! Can't Find It!!

I have a 1997 Fleetwood Pace Arrow MH with a Ford chasis, and cannot find the fuse box that is supposed to be located under the dash. The one under the hood is easily accessable, but where is the under dash box? My flashers, brake pressure switch, and speed control do not work. There is supposed to be a fuse that breaks that circuit. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
