RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Started packing and restocking for our trip out to the Southwest on Monday. Can't wait to have some warm sun beating down on us, after a very long week of freezing cold temps.

RE: living without a generator

Run your frig off the propane, it is cheap, and will save your battery. On our 2004 conversion van, we had a 450W inverter, and it ran the TV and charged our phones, laptop, etc. We would watch 4-5 hrs a night of TV, use the lights sparingly, and water pump occasional. It would drain the battery to fair or good. Next day we would drive to our next destination and charge the battery up, while also running the frig on battery. Depending on your use and what you want it for, a single battery can work. Doing it all over again, we would have bought an AGM battery with more amps, maybe even 2. We also have a gen and wouldn't be without one. Comes in handy when we stopped somewhere and needed to run the AC. We also used it on occasion to charge the battery. We recently upgraded our 2004 for a 2013 with 2 AGM batteries, solar panels and generator (won't be without one). The frig is an electric only and the TV is 12V. With our current setup, we don't have to worry about draining the 2 AGM's. Also, wouldn't be without a bathroom:)

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Woke up to 3 degrees this AM. Ran the geni for 40 minutes. Took a couple of pumps to get it started, but once it started, it purred like a kitten.

Winterizing

What are the thoughts on putting antifreeze thru the lines, then draining or using the pump to remove most of the antifreeze? There wouldn't be any water left in the lines, only a small amount of antifreeze, that would be in the low points. We are leaving in Jan. for warmer climates and thought this would save some time flushing out the lines of the antifreeze.

RE: 1st Sprinter Service

Just call the 800# or a MB dealer. They will give you the best advice.

RE: GPS system

Thanks for the advice 1775. Our routes are to avoid as many big cities as possible. No desire to see tall building or drive thru their tunnels. Lived in a big city most of my life and know what city traffic is like too. Moved away 4 years ago and don't miss it. Still have family there, so sometimes have to make the trek back.:( I prefer to see tall mountains now...preferably looking up rather then looking down:E So much to see, so little time.

RE: GPS system

Good to know Bob. It is a POC. Yet, it gets rated high. Those people must not travel very far or often.

RE: GPS system

Horizon...thanks for that IMPORTANT tip. Never gave that any thought. This GPS had our home about 5 miles north....should have left it in there:B Took ya right to a farmers field. I like the idea of the police station. You could call them and let them know your stolen vehicle could show up there:@

RE: GPS system

Thanks for your responses. I guess it's more of a program issue then a "map". We get so frustrated when trying to enter an address, because it eliminates letters and numbers. Especially the numbers. Try to enter the numbers and sometimes it only gives you one number......grrrrrr. Our garmin does not do that, so now we carry it along with us. The garmin you can look at the list of directions to compare with what I printed on line. Gives me peace of mind that the route is correct. Haven't found this option on the Clarion/Tom Tom . Had the wrong location for our address to.

GPS system

We have a built in GPS system in our 13RS. We hate it. It's a Tom Tom based system. It uses a SD card, which stores the maps, just like our Garmin does. Has anyone replaced the Tom Tom maps with another map, by replacing the SD card? Is it possible?

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Spent yesterday making a foam wedge to place on top of our sofa. It sits a bit lower then the side seat cushions. Topped it off with a memory foam. Spent today puttering, hanging paper towel holder, hooks, more hooks, organizing and throwing out stuff I haven't used in 3 1/2 yrs, restocking etc.... getting it ready for our January trip to the Southwest. Don't want to be doing that in Jan.....burrrrrrrrrr.

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Spent the day cleaning the outside of our RS. Made a curtain for back door to keep cold air from blowing in at the top of bed. Getting ready for a trip to Door County, WI, on Monday.

Our first night in our 2013 RT RS Adventurous

Had our first overnighter in our new RS. Comparing it to our 190P, it is 2 1/2' longer and a few inches narrow. It felt very roomy except for the cabin area between the seats. I wasn't sure if I would like the enclosed bathroom, but after having a chance to actually use it, we both liked it only in the respect that it gave us more isle room when one of us was showering. As far as, interior room in the bathroom, it was manageable, but the isle shower wins for more elbow room. No walls to bang into. The extra couple of feet in length was great. In the 190P, the floor space was limited during a shower and prevented the other from moving more freely. With the RS, we both had our own space for getting ready and was able to more around the entire area. The ride was comfortable and smoother then the 190P. The extra length was noticeable when parking, but with the spare tire on the back of the 190P, we would be selective with parking spots anyway, so that is a wash. All-n-all, we both agreed we are glad we moved up to the RS. Best part....no "engine" light came on ;o)

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Spent the last couple of days organizing our new RS. Just got it back on Thursday after spending a week in the MB service shop. Two problems gave us the engine light and went into limp home mode. One problem was the CDI module reading faulty. On the road again....yippie!!!!

RE: Our new RT RS Adventurous

Thanks Chirpnchicks. Hearing you have 100K on your Rs makes us feel better. We are heading out tomorrow for an overnighter to check it all out. And again on Thursday for a 2 nighter meeting some friends. Worked all day yesterday and today getting things organized. Now to find everything where we stored it ;o)

RE: Our new RT RS Adventurous

We are originally from Milwaukee area, and only went to Potawatomi a few times while we lived there. We moved out to the Dells 4 yrs ago. Don't miss the big city at all.

Drsolo.....we were on our way to Door County when the engine light came on. Not sure I'm ready for that destination just yet ;). Going to head for a casino close to home. Maybe we'll be lucky in two ways...lol

RE: Our new RT RS Adventurous

Brought our RS home today. Everything seems to be working. Now if we can get over this fear of another breakdown, all will be good. The CDI module seems to be a common problem for a lot of vehicles. Time for a recall?

RE: Our new RT RS Adventurous

Well it's been 5 days and counting that our NEW!!! RS has been held up. They replaced the pressure valve exhaust system, but the engine light was still on. They contacted MB engineers and they are having the CDI control module replaced. None in stock, so waiting for one to be shipped. During my conversation with the service tech, it sounded like the CDI has been a problem in the MB sprinters.

RE: RoadTrek small reefer

After a few trips you learn how often you need to stop and restock, and how much you can carry in your frig. We don't mind eating out, so it's not a big deal for us. Our 3 way frig had more room then our current AC/DC frig. The freezer is a few inches smaller and we lost one door shelf. So it feels smaller then our 3 way.
