On approximately 117,157 models of Samsung microwaves manufactured between May 2000 and September 2003, there is a defective membrane panel. An electrical short can occur, causing the oven to activate without pressing any key pads. This could result in excessive heat, smoke or possibly a fire.
Samsung will notify its customers and repair the panel. In the meantime, consumers should unplug their microwave, if possible. If the consumer is unable to unplug the microwave, they should leave the microwave oven door ajar until the membrane panel is replaced. Consumers should never use the microwave oven for storage or leave any towels, paper, cloth or other products in the microwave after use. Owners may contact Samsung at 800-932-3837 or the National Highway Traffic Safety AdministrationÕs Auto Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236. To search NHTSAÕs database of recalls, visit www.nhtsa.dot.gov.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Samsung Electronics Co. is recalling 183,897 defective microwave ovens that were installed in recreational vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Wednesday.
The microwaves have faulty wiring which can cause them to start without pressing the key pad. The company is asking customers not to store items in the microwaves and to unplug them if possible.
The affected microwaves were sold between January 1999 and September 2003. Samsung will rewire the ovens for free through recreational vehicle dealers.

Kidd , do you have anymore info on the microwave recall?
I have one of the ovens you speak of.
Several months ago i just so happened to go out to the
camper to check on everything, low and behold the mircowave was running. It's a complete wonder that it didn't catch on fire, it was so hot. It had been atleast 10 days since i had been in the camper, so i have know idea how long it had been running. Thanks for anymore info you might have on the recall. Daniel
Apparently this came out at the beginning of October. I never saw it. When I went searching the net for more info I found a string of posts. At the top of the page click on Search and type Samsung Microwave Recall. All of the information was right here the whole time..go figure. I love this place!
I went to the NHTSA site and here is the page to start the search on Equipment NHTSA Search
I continued the search selecting the Samsung Microwave, and randomly selecting a model. This is the result:

"If you have an RV, you don't need another hobby." Comment from a friend...
I suppose if you filled out and returned the owner registration card(s) that came with the RV you'll be getting an individual notification from Samsung through the mail. The recall is less than a month old...I'm looking for a notification any day now. Meanwhile I'll compare my model number to those listed in an earlier post.
I called Samsung at 1-800-932-3837 to make sure that they had my warranty registration info. Sure nuff, the dealer hadn't sent in my appliance paperwork yet and they took my model and serial number info and said they would send me a recall letter to take to the dealer. Recommend you call Samsung too, have your model and serial number available. Meanwhile, leave unplugged when not in use until you get the touch panel replaced.
My microwave is in the group to be recalled, and I have unplugged it until the repair has been made. It occurred to me that some folks may not realize that many units can be unplugged, for safety, by looking in the adjacent cabinet on either side to find and unplug the 120VAC power cord. Looking for the plug, I actually removed the screws securing my unit and lifted it out of the cabinetry before I saw the power cord disappearing into the adjacent cabinet. My oven was built with an integral mounting/securing frame that allows relatively easy removal of the entire oven. Some other models may not be as easily removed as mine was. I may look into simply taking the oven only directly to an authorized Samsung repair shop for the necessary work. My guess is that most RV dealers will have to remove each oven and send it out for the repair. If I can, I'll try to avoid having to give up the entire RV for a week or more (although I'm not so sure we could manage to go anywhere without our microwave).

When I called Samsung this morning to check if my dealer had sent in the warranty card when I purchased the coach (he hadn't), I asked the CSR if I could pull the oven out of its enclosure and simply take IT rather than the whole coach to the service center. She indicated that that would be quite acceptable since I would probably not be sent to an RV dealer for repairs and that parking might be an issue. She will call me in a few days to tell me exactly where to take the oven for service.
