I also called Samsung this morning because I couldn't remember if we had sent in the registration card or if the dealer sent in the information when we bought the rig. I don't trust anyone these days. Samsung needs to know Model number, Serial Number, and Date of Manufacture. Samsung said they were replacing the electronic keyboard punchpad and not the whole unit. I stated that mine had a burnt spot where the door closes and she said that would also be replaced at no charge. Samsung said they would be in touch by mail and a phone call to let us know where to take the rig for repairs and that it would not be at the dealers. She was very friendly and helpful but she did say to make sure the microwave door was open or that it was unplugged. No problem since we have winterized and there is no power to the rig. I called my dealer and was told that this is so new that they had not even seen the recall notice yet. Another good reason to be reading this forum. Good luck to all.

Talked to our dealer last week as this was mentioned on our Caravan site. He had not heard it either.

I talked with Samsung today. They said only the models that were
manufactured from May 2000 and after. Our microwave shows manufactured in 1999. It was the model on the list someone started.

We just bought a used 2001 Prowler about 2 months ago, on our first trip in the unit we noticed that the microwave was showing to press the keypad to start then the #2 would show, the light worked but the keypad would not do anything, it worked when we say it at the dealer when he had the unit pluged in, my wife had even set the clock on the microwave, but now it don't work at all, when we got back we went to the rv dealer and told him about the microwave, he said he could not do anything about it, it was not under warrenty any more and the trailer we bought was used and sold as is, so i got him to order a new microwave, he said he would help out and just charge me his cost of the new microwave, but is has been on backorder for awhile. it is one of the microwave that is listed as a recall, what should i do?? the dealer where i bought the Prowler is not a fleetwood dealer, he sells keystone campers. maybe i could get this microwave repaired or replaced at no charge now that is it recalled. Thats why i love this web site...

I had notified my friend about the recall. He has one in the 2000 trailer he just purchased. When he called Samsung in the US he was automatically switched to Samsung Canada. The CSR at first didn't know anything about the recall. When he read her the article that I printed for him from here she then stated that it was for the US only. He had to remind her that it stated North America. She finally agreed to the recall and gave him the names of 2 companies here in Montreal to get it repaired. Neither one is an RV dealer, just an authorized Samsung repair shop. As a friend of his works for one of them, the parts are now ordered. He will have to bring the unit in to get it fixed..

Does anyone know who manufactures Dometic microwaves? The model
numbers on a Dometic could be different and still be manufactured
by Samsung.

service locations or email
the Tech. Support Rep at
YPilon@seca.samsung.com and give
your Mod # and Date built
I have a recall, she said "this is
mandatory repair, They will need to replace
the keypad of your microwave.

i e mailed samsung canada and was given the name of yves pilon as the service rep to deal with,after several e mails he advised me that samsung canada did not support this product ans that i should contact samsung united states which i did last week.They acknowledged my e mail but have not gotten back to me since.I am now in limbo.

Just got a call from Samsung. They gave me a number for Magtag Service (1-866-461-2289) that has been set up for handling the repair. Had to be patient as this seemed to not be a voice response phone with the "press 1 for..." and actually connected to a living person some where in the world (couldn't get the image of the TV commercial guy waiting for the phone to ring out of my head ).
Had to give my Model and Serial number. Was asked were the RV was and did it have power to it. Told them it was at my house and is plugged in to a 30Amp circuit. I was then given a 1-800 number for a repair service in my area and told that the part would be shipped to my house. I was told to call the 1-800 number when I received the replacement touch panel and they would come to my house and replace it (this may not be an option for all areas).
Was told that the microwave did not need to be removed to have the panel replaced (will wait and see ).
Stay tuned. Will post the results of this adventure when the job is done.
