Nothing is going to ruin the surface of your M/H faster than the sun and weather (short of a collision of course). I searched the net for a canopy/cover/portable garage, but only found low quality for cheap, or good quality at more than I was willing to pay….typically in the mid 2K’s with freight. And you still have to do the setup. So here was my solution and I am posting it for those of you who might be interested in doing something similar.

These pictures show what you can do yourself for a lot less money. The uprights are on 8’ centers x 5 = 40’, the rafters are 8’6”ea. at 110 degrees of rise, making the width exactly 16’. I could have used the full 10’ length of each pipe and saved a few bucks, but I wanted the increased strength using 8’ on center.

You may not need the same size that I built, but here are the resources to make it happen in any size. The tarp came from www.tarpsonline.com. The railings are 1 3/8 X 10’ galvanized fence rails from Home Depot, the fittings came from www.canopymasters.com. The vertical railings fit into 24” galvanized pipe driven into the ground and are secured by ¼” self drilling screws. I ordered a 100 qnty bag of ball bungies from Canopymasters to secured the tarp to the frame. And I did the entire job myself (I’m 60 years old) with absolutely no help from anyone (I only tell you that so you will realize that this is not a difficult job. I would guess it took about 10 hours.)

Sure feels good to have that much investment now under cover!

Thanks for the kind remarks. Had hoped this would be of interest to some of you. I’m confused about all your settings however. The links to the pics work normally for me yet all of you are having problems. What is this setting change you are doing?

PS. Joe S. After your private e-mail request, I tried to e-mail the pics to you at the “xxx@sbcglobal.net” addy but it was rejected as address unknown. Did not mis-type because I copied and pasted the addy right from your note. Maybe the solution is you need to know what the “fix” is also. There may be something I can correct in the link to the site where I have the pics stored.
