Sorry but it sounds like someones chain is being pulled to cover up for poor quality . Lets see ,the Lance dealer installs a Lance camper on your truck in a way that voids your warranty with out telling you of the problem or having you sign a release .I'd be on my way to court

Maybe Im missing something here, but I fail to see where it matters whether your turnbuckle is short and there is a length of chain between it and the tiedown anchor point or if your turnbuckle is long. As long as both turnbuckles (and chain)are of equal strength and equally rubber cushioned, I see no problem with it.

The reason I was given as to why the chains are bad vs the long turnbuckles, is that as the truck sways from side to side the chains slacken on one side and when it sways back the chain snaps and pulls suddenly and that causes the damage. This is according to Rod Morgan at Lance (800-423-7996).

If there were no springs in the system I might buy it. But with springs I'm not convinced this could occur. The springs should take up the slack as the chains slacken and the sudden snap as the chains unslacken shouldn't occur since the springs limit the total force along that line.

Rod Morgan said that even with all the right setup (HappiJac or Tork Lift) not all damage would be covered under warranty because you could hit a big pothole at high speed and there's nothing they could do to withstand that.

Rod also told me that the wood frame of the camper has some flexibility to it and it's possible the wood frame was not broken. He said if enough force was applied the wood frame could bend and bend the corner molding out of place, and when the force was released the wood would go back in place but the corner molding would stay bent. Since the eye bolt is not loose but still solidly in place, it appears that only the corner molding is bent out of place and that the wood frame is not broken in my camper.

Here's a picture of how the corner molding pulled away from the side walls. Click on the photo to see a few other photos of my tie down setup.
