I have a hankering for a Lance 1161 but I have a Ford One Ton with single rear wheels and Air Lift air bags on the rear. Do I really need a dually to carry the Lance 1161 when the truck is equipped with the air bags?

YES!!!
With the 1161, you have a heavy load. Your tires can't handle it. I believe that 3400# is the strongest E tire out there, which is actually reduced to about 2800#(?) pounds in a DRW configuration.
Your 1 ton SRW can only carry 6800# on the rear axle (if you have the right tires), where as the DRW can carry over 10,000#.

You will be grossly overwieght. Lance recommends a dually with this unit. I don't think a reputable dealer would load you up with one.
I just bought a new f-350, dually. We also love the 1161, just looked at one last weekend. But very concerned about the weight and size. We are looking at a 1071.
I think about as big as you should probably go is a 1010 or 1030.
My humble opinion.
Good luck.

Your going to be severly overloaded with a 12' camper on a SRW truck.
Lance states the dry weight of the 1161 at 3495 pounds. Fill it with water and propane, load with supplies for a weekend, and you'll easily be close to 4500 pounds.
This load will max out most duallys.

Yes you will have to have a DRW truck period. I belive if you try this what will happen is blow out after blow out.
To be honest no dealer that is reputable would mount it. If they did and Lance found out my guess they would no longer handle Lance.

I just bought an 1161 and I just bought a dually. It's the only way to go. I learned this here and also from a Lance dealer.
