We are heading to Yellowstone this summer and would like a suggestion on a campground near the west gate with full hook-ups.

Stayed at Grizzley in West yellowstone. Wide open paved sites. Even let me wash my motorhome. Not many parks allow that. Only a couple blocks from the west gate.

Never been, but heard good things about Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone. Lot's of folks stay at fishing bridge, it's inside yellowstone, but very centeral to all the sights.

I have been going to West Yellowstone for several years and have found Lionshead RV Resort to be my favorite all around campground in that area. There is a KOA also just down the road from Lionshead and also the Grizzly Bear in the town of West Yellowstone. Lionshead RV Resort is about 7 miles west of town on the main highway and has excellent showers, with private bathrooms, good sized laundry area and plenty of room for getting in and out. They have a nice little store for items and the hosts are very nice and have been hosting for a number of years there. Also they have a full menu restaurant and a Super 8 Motel on the premises as well. They do not have a pool if that is important. I have found them to be much more attractive in rates, around 25.00 per night than the other two mentioned which get up towards 45.00 to 50.00 per night during the same time period. It is just a matter of what you want, but Lionshead is hard to beat for the $$. Happy Camping.

The wife and I stayed at West Yellowstone Montana KOA this past summer and we were very pleased with the campground and with the personel. It was voted the top KOA campground in the US in 2002. Another campground that looked very nice was the Grizzly Bear Campground which is walking distance to the West Gate enterance to Yellowstone National Park. It is convenient to town and looked to be very well kept. The wife and I decided if we ever went back we would try it.

My wife and i spent 4 days at Grizzly RV parks last September and we definitely recommend it. She say it is here favorite park. It seems fairly new and is a bit costly but i feel that it is worthe the price. Heck, you even get free cappucinos.

Grizzly is close to the park and very nice, but the price tag is steep! You could practically rent a room for their nightly rate.

Madison Arms Resort is about 8 miles west of the west gate. It has large wooded sites, full hook ups, beach and is seculded in the woods. The one draw back is it is a 6 mile drive down a dirt road. But I thought it was well worth the dust.
