I have enjoyed these summer drinks in restaurants but believe it or not have never tried making them myself. With summer coming, I'd like some tried and true recipes for the cookouts we are planning.
In Mexico last year I bought a couple bottles of lime Daiquiri mix and would love to know the best way to make them.
Also Margueritas,; my sister makes the frozen strawberry ones which are more like a dessert than a drink. Very good, though...but I'd like one a little less sweet.
If you have a favorite easy recipe for any other summer drink, I'd love to have it to try as well. Thanks!
Heather, if you want a Marguerita that isn't so sweet, leave out the Marguerita mix and have it with a bite of sliced lime on the side. Oooh Yeah!

I used to make a drink that used a can of limeaid (frozen), a can of club soda and a can of vodka with lots of ice thrown in the blender. Then stick it in the freezer and serve frozen. I don't know what you would call it but it wasn't overly sweet, but it sure tasted good on a hot summer day/night!!!
My favorite margarita is not frozen but served over ice.
1 1/2 shots 1800 cuervo (or any good quality, gold tequilla)
1/2 shot grand marnier
1/2 shot cointreau
2 oz. sweet & sour mix
2 oz. simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, bring to boil, cool)
sqeeze of half a lime
Throw in a couple of good size queen olives and enjoy!!
This is supposed to be the Applebees chain restaurants Perfect Margarita recipe, I got it off the internet and have been making them awhile.
You can vary the amount of simple syrup for your desired sweetness level and also the amount of lime juice.
In blender ;
1- can of concentrated lime juice
1-can vodka
2-3 sliced whole fresh peaches , with skin on , seed out
Fill with crushed ice
Run blender till smooth
Keep making them till;
- Electric fails
- You fall down
- You feel like a nappy poo
- Someone cries uncle
1/2 can Cream of Coconut
1/2 16 oz can crushed Pineapple
3/4 Cup (=/-) Light Rum
Fill to 3/4 mark with ice. Blend till smooth. You can add more rum to taste and ice to make the consistency you like.
Heathertee here is one reciept I got from Boozer Bob and it goes like this, (1/2 can Lime
(1/2 cup of ginger ale
(2 oz of triple Sec
(4 oz of Tequilla
(fill up the blender with ice and enjoy. Oh my is time for some fun...Louie

We have a few different cocktails that we make at large gatherings now I usually make these in 5 gallon increments so my measurements are not exact and you may want to experiment your preference, I usually eyeball what I am doing and then taste it..
And I have no idea what the names of these drinks are...
Captain Morgans Spiced Rum
Peach Schnapps
(Between the 2 of these in a glass or container that already has ice in it should be half full --- I use more Spiced Rum than Schnapps)
Orange Juice
Grenadine for color
Malibu Rum (fill 1/3-1/2 glass or container already containing ice)
Pineapple Juice
Cranberry Juice
Itallian Margaritas
Tequilla (fill 1/3 glass or container already containing ice)
Margarita Mix
Triple Sec (do this to taste, helps with the sourness)
Limoncello (an Itallian liquor check specialty markets I have not had any luck finding it at the grocery store)
Of course if you don't have limoncello you can always add Midori or Gran Marnier
I have a Sangria recipe that my mother in law is suppose to give me, as soon as I have it I will post it.
Jose Cuervo “PREMIUM” The Perfect Margarita Mix
- 3 parts, just like it says on the back of the bottle
1800 Tequila
Cointreau
Grand Marnier
- Combine as 1 part, but adjust the portions to suit your taste
Fresh Lime
Coarse Salt
What I usually do is mix all this in my “BUCKET” so the 3 parts of Margarita Mix I get exact, but the amounts of each liquor that I put in may vary a little from batch to batch. Once I’ve mixed the batch then I stick the whole bucket in the freezer for about 24 hours. About every 8 hours, I take the bucket out of the freezer and stir up the mix. Then when I
want to serve them, I turn the rim of the glass in some of the mix and then tip the rim in some coarse salt. I scoop the mix out the bucket with a ladle, put the mix in the glass, and squeeze a slice of fresh lime over the mix. And it’s good to go.
If it is a small gathering or on short notice, I have a 32 ounce measuring cup that I use. I pour 6 ounces of 1800 Tequila, 1 ounce Cointreau, 1 ounce of Grand Marnier, and 24 ounces of Margarita Mix. It is great on the rocks as is without freezing first.
12 6 19 oz. Tequila
2 1 3 oz. Cointreau
2 1 3 oz. Grand Marnier
48 24 72 oz. Mix

Note: Booze is hard if not impossible to freeze in your MoHo freezer, they just don't get cold enough. You can freeze this in your home freezer first.

Heathertee2002 we just use the Jose Cuervo's all ready pre-mixed just add ice Margueritas mix. No mess, you can mix in blender with ice to make it slushy.
