We have found mildew in our carpet around our water pump in the Basement. Anyone have any idesas on the best way to remove mildew on carpeting without removing it?

Also we cant find any leaks and do not know what is causing this.
Any ideas?

we have a 2002 Sprinter 5th wheel

Thanks

Nancy

The Tilex company just came out with a new product for rug mildew. Check Walmart....

With the lack of insulation and air movement these areas can go through large temp changes causing condensation. My suggestion is if you don't really need it lose the carpet, its a lot simpler to clean the bin when the mold or mildew is present then dealing with carpet. No carpet would also allow the area to dry much quicker keeping the reoccurence at a minimum.

I am not sure if it is really a mildew - looks more like a fungus

Agree that carpet can be pulled thereby eliminating a vehicle for mold/fungi to grow.
In the fire service we used a honey comb rubber mat in the exterior compartments which had airflow, easily removed for washing under/drying and great sound absorption.
