Slick and well designed. Unhappily, the battery space in my BF is barely large enough to install a single battery. I'm having to create a rack in the bed of the truck ahead of the wheel well.

I to own a snowbird 9'6". I am currently using 2 6 volt batteries. They are interstate 220 work aholic's. Would these still work in your tray?

Thanks
Dan

I think the 9'6" has a smaller battery area than the 8'10" does. I built this tray 12V batteries, and have about 3 or 4 more inches of space above the batteries, so 6V's might actually fit.

Chopperbill was able to order a battery tray for his 9'6", that works with a little clearancing of the door opening.

Thanks Brad!

Insayn,
That is a very nice battery tray, best I've seen. I also like the quick connectors mounted to the top of the compartment. Very well done.

The tray is very deep but I would still install some type of hold down on each battery.

Questions: What is the bolt in the center of the tray for? Can the slide be locked closed or could it slide open if the compartment door opened?

Yes, very nice job.

The battery's are quite heavy and I'm wondering about the cantilever effect, how is the tray bolted to the camper?

What is the bolt in the middle of the upper tray?

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I will join in on how do you lock it so batteries don't slide out? I drove across OK one very early AM with my batteries hanging out of the side of the camper - noticed in the rear view when the sun came up. The little latches on the Kwikee slide popped up on an Oklahoma freeway bump and the heavy batts just bent the lock tabs on the door and the whole thing apparently slid out.

BTW, very nice job. I wish I had the talent to build slick things like that.

Was down south the month of Jan. so I just found this post. The 9'6 Battery compartment is MUCH smaller. I installed the this tray and are able to handle the Trojan 105 much easier with it but rear battery is harder to check fluid. I pretty much figure if the front need water so does the back, but I havent had to add any in close to a year. You have to cut away part of compartment for it to slide but it no big deal. If you want more details let me know but will be gone for another week. Heres a picture of my install.

The bolt in the middle of the tray has a latch mounted under it that catches the back of the lower tray to keep the batteries from wanting out of the compartment. The lower tray portion is bolted in 4 places along the bottom to the camper framework, and also 4 places along the upper back edge. It is in there really good. The glides were rated at 100lbs a pair and there are two set of glides. The batteries are 68lbs each, so I have plenty of room on the glides. The batteries slide out effortlessly, and with no play/wobble/tilt.

That is a wonderful idea! Last year I "squeezed" a group 31 battery into my Lance 835. It is a very tight fit!! I have to be very careful when taking it out to check water levels so I don't hit the access door frame. I don't think that a sliding tray of any kind would fit in the 835 battery compartment. These kind of things should be standard from the factory so you can properly maintain your equipment.

Thanks for the great pics.
