Hey everyone, My kids and I are planning on going to Glamis over Spring Break, April 9th -16th. First of all, we have only been there one time and we stayed on Geko road. I heard on the last trip that the washes were fun too. Does anyone have any input on a good spot for this time? Any info on Glamis in general would be appreciated.

The washes are cool but can be a dust bowl at times. Gecko can be tricky if you only have two wheel drive (you cant just park anywhere)unless you get there before everybody else. If you get there before the weekend you will probably get a nice spot close to the dunes. The washes are flat so you can drive around with out getting stuck for the most part. I like personaly like Gecko.

Easter weekend will be busy, be careful.
Gecko will fill up very fast, especially on a big weekend.

We are leaving on Sunday April 9th and won't arrive until around 2:00 in the afternoon. I am hoping that most of the weekend crowd will be gone by then. What do you guys think?

BTW, where are the washes?

Gecko road is a ton of fun but fills up fast. Once it fills up people will literally camp right on top of you. I had a couple of folks that tried to setup camp in front of my entry/exit. That wouldn’t have been a big issue if our camp wasn’t already surrounded by 3 other camps. Since then the washes have been my camping spot of choice. I am usually down by wash 7 or 8 couple hundred yards towards the dunes.

Of course it really doesn’t matte as long as your at Glamis.. ?

Yep, most will be gone by then.
Right now, looks to be like it is going to be hot while you are down there.

I am going to the washes on Easter weekend, April 14-16 with a group of about 10 to 15 rigs. I hate to generalize but for the most part the Gecko crowd is a lot rowdier than the wash crowd. Your kids might get some anatomy lessons on the Gecko side over spring break weather you like it or not. The dunes by the washes are smaller and you have to ride to get to the bigger dunes. Gecko is right by the big dunes.

Hmmm, may have to try the washes next season. I was always told to steer away fromthe washes as they were more rowdy and the trucks prerun through there pretty quickly. Gecko has been cool so far, but sure is crowded.
