We're heading out to Spangler Hills over the Saint Patrick's day weekend (Friday afternoon 3/16 to Sunday 3/18).
We have a small group lined up so far, but it's bound to build up. We'll stay on Steven's Mine road (same road, but different spot than last Spring's Spot SH trip). The spot we pick depends on the head count. I don't want to take one of the bigger spots if we don't have a big enough group. Let me know who's interested.
The area has good trails for quads, good single track, and good roads for buggies. It's all open riding, so you don't have to stick to the trails. The ride down to Randsburg for lunch is always fun. We'll also be close enough to the Poker Run route (from last Fall's Rally) to do a DRF (derwud relief fund) Poker Run if we had enough interest. The course would be slightly out of order, but who among us isn't out of order a little bit?
Let me know if you're interested.

Yikes - Hey Mike. It's going to be a busy weekend, eh? Do you have any more info about that event? Maybe we need to reconsider locations.

We were planning on leaving on the 16th to head down there. Plan on spending a week in that area before heading on to Vegas the following weekend. Not super familiar with the area, only having spent Thanksgiving at Spangler. We would love to join ya...

Just realized that I ignored this thread. My bad.
To answer the Cal City to Spangler question, yeah...I suppose you could. Randsburg is probably equidistant between Cal City and Spanger (where we camp). So you could go from Cal City to Randsburg for a burger stop, gas up at Jo-berg, the continue on to Spangler. It could be a long day, but not too bad.
That being said: THIS TRIP IS CANCELED FOR US. I wussed out at the thought of the crowds. So we'll give it another shot later. Spangler will probably be our Swan Song trip in May. We'll do England for Spring Break, then Phillip's Jawbone cleanup trip (staying in Dove Springs) later in April, then raise a glass to the end of the '06-'07 season at Spangler in May.
