A girlfriend & I will soon be making a run to southern MS from just west of Russellville, AR. Our route will be I-40 to I-55. We'll be leaving home around 5:00 p.m. & would like to get about 3 hours under our belt before stopping for the night.

Is there a safe place for 2 women to overnight between Little Rock & West Memphis, preferably a little closer to LR than to West Memphis or would I be better off stopping before we get to LR? I don't mind driving up to 20-30 miles out of the way if it means a safe place to stay.

Thanks.
Liss

Tall Pines RV Park about ten miles east of LR.

City/Town: Jacksonville

Or, if you want to travel only 75 miles from Russellville and then enjoy a scenic campground, try Maumelle Corps of Engineers park. Travel east on I-40 to Exit 147. Go south on I-430 to Exit 9; then west on Cantrell Rd. (Hwy. 10) to Pinnacle Valley Rd. Turn right onto Pinnacle Valley Road. Watch for the road to your left after crossing the bridge (just past the horse ranch).

Three hours out of Russellville is going to put you real close to Memphis...I would go on to Memphis and drop down to Tunica, 20 miles, and stay at Sam's Town or Hollywood CG.

I would highly recommend Tom Sawyers RV Campground in West Memphis,AR, right on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is a beautiful setting and they have benches beside the river to enjoy the scenry. There are all sorts of boats going up and down the river.

North Little Rock, Burns Park, exit 150, big brown sign on the freeway, W/E $16 in the woods, perfect for overnight. So good we wished we could stay a few more days.

Ditto on Burns Park. Just off the interstate. If you want to get a little further, about 30 minutes east of Little Rock is a campground named Terex. Right off the interstate behind a convenience store. We have stayed there a couple of times.

Hay Liss, are you girls sleeping in your car or some kind of RV?

I would say Burns Park or push on further east. I have heard a lot of good things about it. Also, I am stationed at the base at Jacksonville, and everytime I see the Tall Pines RV Park, it is packed and everyone of them is pretty close to each other.

We'll be in my 5er. My girlfriend is wanting to get an RV but hasn't been around them. She needs to take care of some business in MS so we're taking the 5er to give her a taste of The Life. It'll also give us a chance have a chick trip away from DHs & DKs.

I didn't realize Burns Park was safe. I've heard plenty of horror stories about LR so figured I'd better skip it. We may shoot for Burns.

I'd thought about T-Ricks but just didn't feel safe traveling without DH. I'm also a little too chicken to mess with getting in to the Memphis area after dark, especially not knowing my way around.

Thanks for all the great suggestions!
Melissa
