We have two storage compartments on each side of the bed, the doors are more like lids and don't want to stay open especially if the shades are closed.
I decided to add springs to the lids to act as hold-opens, when you open the lid and the spring is fully extended it will stay open. if you pull slightly on the lid or give the spring a gentle nudge the lid closes.
I started with springs from Lowe's and some 8 x 5/8 oval trim screws with attached trim washer.
I then cut off the half loop that came from the factory.
Then bending two complete loops up to a 90 degree angle on one end and about a 45 degree on the other end.
Then just pre drill holes and attach the 90 degree end to the opening as shown and the 45 degree end to the lid.

2003 Jayco 308fbs eagle 33' tt, towed by a 2003 Ram 3500 slt, quad cab dually, cummins diesel ho, trailer towing package, with 6 speed manual. Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. Congratulations on an elegant engineering solution. Inexpensive, definitely not overkill but obviously works for the purpose it was intended, easily available and replaced, and easily installed. What better could you want.
