This is a microwave recipe I've used for about thirty years now. I like it because it uses regular noodles and they don't have to be cooked prior to assembling, so I decided to tweak it a little and convert it for DO cooking. IMO, the fact the hamburger can be browned at home, the noodles don't have to be cooked, and most of the ingredients can be mixed in just one bowl makes this a great camping recipe. This could easily be converted to use pizza ingredients.

Lasagna
1 lb. hamburger, browned and cooled
1 egg
2 c. cottage cheese
2 t. parsley (optional)
8 oz. mozzarella, divided
4 c. tomato sauce
2 t. Italian seasoning, or to taste
9 lasagna noodles, uncooked
Pour 1 c. tomato sauce into greased #12 DO. Sprinkle with some of the Italian seasoning. Lay 3 noodles in the sauce, breaking to fit as necessary. In bowl, mix egg, cottage cheese, 6 oz. mozzarella, hamburger, and parsley. Spread half of mixture over noodles in DO. Repeat layers, ending with noodles. Pour remaining sauce over all, making sure to cover all the noodles completely. Sprinkle with remaining Italian seasoning, then remaining cheese. Bake with one ring of coals under DO and a ring and a half on lid until noodles are done.

I usually skip the parsley and replace it with Italian seasoning or a combo of basil and oregano.

If you want to use the hamburger while it's still warm, then don't mix it with the cheese mixture but just sprinkle half of it over each of the cheese layers instead.

This goes great with some garlic bread heated over coals or on a grill, or garlic biscuits or bread sticks baked in a second DO.

This could also be made in a regular stove oven. For a microwave oven, use microwave-safe dish, cover and cook at 100% power for 15 minutes, then 50% power for twenty minutes and let stand, covered, for ten minutes. Microwave power varies so you may need to adjust cooking times.

Leftovers freeze great.

I wanted to come back and report that I made the recipe that Charleegirl posted last night. It was really good, although I think I'd cover it, as the cheese on top got a little brown and I prefer my cheese gooey! LOL By the way, DH went back for seconds and thirds! Guess he REALLY liked it! Thanks to both posters for suggesting this!

Sorry I purchased it frozen and it was really good.
I like to make my own but the cost is usually 3 x the
price of the frozen one
Sorry about that

I was thinking about this and can't really figure out a lot of difference between regular lasagna and pizza lasagna because the spices and all would pretty much the same. What is it about regular lasagna your husband doesn't like?

For my recipe, you'd just have to replace the hamburger with Italian sausage, diced ham, diced pepperoni, etc, or a combo of those. Other stuff could be added like in Charleegirls' recipe, such as diced bell peppers, sliced olives, diced raw onions, etc, etc. whatever you like on your pizza.

Okay, now I not only have to try this, I have to develop a recipe for use in a #6 Dutch oven for camping. Plus I'm hungry now and it's not even breakfast time.
