Is a 2008 Malibu V6 with 6-Speed Auto Transmission Towable? The chevy dealer does not know & the company that makes Lube Pumps (Remco)says the V6 needs the pump, but they have the wrong engine size on their websit? Please Help!

Also you can go to Motorhome magazine dot com and look in the 2008 dingy guide.

Motorhome Mag says YES but does not give an engine size or tranny, I am towing the 4 cylinder. Great car, tows very well, and gets good mileage. The manual should say, my dealer did know either, I ask to look at the manual. Also a fuse must be pulled while towing, I installed a switch under the dash, put the shift lever in neutral, and turn the key to accessory.

Seems to me i read somewhere that the six speed was not towable. There has been a couple discussions on here about that particular one. do a search and you will probably find your answer.

I currently tow a 2005 Malibu LS with the 4-speed automatic behind my Class C. Some time ago, I stopped in at my local Chevrolet dealer because they had a 2008 Malibu with 6-speed automatic on the showroom floor. I looked at the manual for this car in the Recreational Vehicle Towing section and it showed it was towable 4-wheels down by removing one fuse - same as my 2005 model.
Not sure why dave-1961 thought the owner's manual was iffy on this subject, the owner's manual that I read was quite clear about it!

I am looking for help, not a critic.
The manual is "iffy" because the way it is worded "...With proper preparation and equipment, many vehicles can be towed in these ways..." The word "many" is very concenry to me & that no Chevy Dealer is sure that it can be towed & Remco is sure that it can not be towed.
I just do not want to fry a new tranny & Chevy not warranty it.

Below is copied the exact text for the 4-wheels down dingy towing procedures as printed on page 4-25 in the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Owners Manual. I will leave it to others on this forum to decide if these instructions make it appear 'iffy' whether this vehicle can be successfully towed 4-wheels down without the need for drive line disconnect or transmission lube pump modifications.
Dinghy Towing
To dinghy tow your vehicle:
1. Position the vehicle to tow and then secure it.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
3. Set the parking brake.
4. To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove the following fuse from the instrument panel fuse block: IGN SENSOR. See Instrument Panel Fuse Block on page 5-89 for more information.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ACC/ACCESSORY.
6. Shift the transmission to NEUTRAL (N).
7. Release the parking brake.
Remember to install the fuses once you reach your destination. To install a fuse:
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
3. Install the fuse.
Notice: If you exceed 65 mph (105 km/h) while towing your vehicle, it could be damaged. Never exceed 65 mph (105 km/h) while towing your vehicle.

"Senior Member" ??? I am looking for someone that has towed the V6, someone that has actual expereince--not someone giving advise (I can get that from my Dad.)
Unless you are willing to take on the finaicail interested if the tranny gets fried, you should be carefull. At this time, my GM Service department is not sure if it's towable after reading the whole section related to towing the vehicle--they are trying to get a info from corprated.
If anyone has actual expereince witht 2008-09 V6 please let me know...thanks for the help!
