My friend is trying to talk me into going to Pismo with my Toy hauler, 40' Sierra 3 axle that weights 16K usually loaded. I pull it with a Dually Dodge CTD 4x4.

My fear is even after airing down the tires to 20 lbs or so, I'll sink into the sand and be stuck.....I keep having this motion picture roll thru my mind and both truck and trailer are stuck axle deep in the sand..LOL

Anybody on this board taken a 3axle TH weighing 16K to Pismo? I have never been to the sand or dunes with either truck or trailer.

Thanks in advance.

I take a 3 axle 12k TH all the time. Just air all tires (including trailer)down to 18-20 and 4 high into the camping area. Worst case, have your friend take his trailer to the "spot" and come back to you just in case. Take a tow strap and have the shovel ready. If you start the spin, back up. Just keep a constant throttle till you get to your spot. The beach is open all the way past pole 8 so you'll have a lot of areas to camp.

Just remember, getting stuck is half of the fun and take a good size compressor or $1 a tire on weekends.

Because of the fog and the salt air if you don't have alot of WD40 you'll have a lot of RUST!!!! I like Pismo but for me it's to much trouble to go there because of the RUST !!!

When you get back, check everything in a week and you won't believe how much rust begins to set in. On every screw, nut and bolt.

Wash everything really well when you get home to get the salt off and you shouldn't have any problems.
