I can't speak for all models, type, etc., but the drive shaft on my 2500 is approx. 11 1/8" round and on my 3500 is approx. 18 1/4" round, big difference. Same motor and tranny.

You're kidding right?? "If you FEEL SAFE..."???? That's your basis for advice?
To the OP, I sure hope you are an experienced driver who is patient and cautious. No doubt you are over the weight limits of the truck. You really aren't asking any questions. Maybe you are fishing for people to reassure you for what you've already decided to do?
The deal on the trailer sounds nice and it is a beautiful trailer. I too would pick the Rage'n but your set up is not ideal. Good luck with it.
Ya Im looking for people to reassure me, there are so many differnt opinions, I know im not going to be the fastest to get to the destination but i sure want to be very comfortable when i get their. Its hard to settle for anything else after seing this trailer and price. But i dont have the money to buy another truck nor do i want to ruin the one i have now. Travel destinations pismo, gorman, glames, dumont, oregon,. Wondering what i can do to the truck I have now to make it more more safe. I know im over the weight, but i would be over on a 350 truck also,

Way, Way too much traler for a 2500!!!! You can't do anything to increase the weight ratings of your truck. I have a 38' TH 15,600 GVWR and a DRW 3500 and I am close to the limits of my truck. It is not about the engine/drivetrain on your truck but about the weight ratings. What does that trailer weigh???? GVWR??? And the pin weight must be huge!
2003 Chevy CC D/A 4X4 DRW, Pac Brake Air Bags, Juice w/Attitude, K&N Air Intake, BD Exhaust Brake, Dually Valves, Onboard Air..... Tahoe Fury 38TB, MorRyde Pin Box, L.E.D. Lighting,03 Ultra Classic, 02 Road King.
Called the dealer the only differance between a 1 ton and a 3/4 ton is the leaf springs in the rear (more) the motor, drivetran, frame, suspention, rear axle are all the same ??
14000 and 17000 max the pin weight is about 3600 I think

You can "talk" about it all you want, but it's only rated 9200lbs from GM. Been the same since 2001. Believe me, I had an '03 Dmax 2500 and towed my TH with it no problems.

You really need to weight the truck in ready to camp and tow mode(not to forget the fiver hitch weight) and then subtract the weighed rear axle weight from the 9200lbs. As long as your tires can handle the weight, this will tell you your available rear axle capacity.
