I started a more generic thread about the Paiute Trail and looking for **OTHER** options but based on my research so far, I think the Big Rock Candy Resort is where we will end up. We will rent a couple cabins and ride out from the resort.
If you've stayed there before, I'm looking for ANY and ALL advice on riding from the campground. Any best way to head once we get on the trail? Go west and then north? East and then south towards Circleville? We will have (3) accomplished dirt bike riders, my wife on a sport ATV that can hold her own 95% of the time and a slower beginner rider on a rental ATV tagging along.
I've already bought a map of the trail, just have no idea what awaits us in any direction.

All directions are good from there. I camp out of there once a year for the family atv get together. East is pretty scenic - go south a ways first up thru some ash/breccia volcanic formations before you move up into the mountains between Marysvale and Koosharim. Some decent trails in there but mostly road. West is pretty nice too, but only a few narrow trails. Goes way up in the Tushars.
Deal here is not like we ride in CA. They take a much more laid back approach. Many, maybe even most don't use helmets, and you will see locals with kids riding double on the atv's , often small kids in front of adults. Speed isn't the deal here. Just sightseeing.. It's good tho.. lots of fun.

We didn't stay there, what I liked about the location though is heading east you quickly get into some nice heavily treed trails. So much of the rest is desert (I live in the desert already) that it was nice to be in the trees. You'll have some stream crossings, but its a pretty easy ride. Do watch for others on the trail through there as its narrow in spots.
I would agree with cbigham's comment about the closeness to the highway.
Check the altitude of some of the trails, you get up there good and some non-EFI rigs will have a tougher time. Trails are very well marked, with the map you won't have a tough time finding your way at all. Plan for inclement weather, bring plenty of water & food.
We had a great time, plan on going back next summer with some other friends too. If you want here are photos from our 2007 trip. Photo in my sig is me going through one of the streams by BRCM.

From BRCM the riding is all good. Each summer we ride the trail. If you have a trail map, you are good to go. A couple of the high passes might be closed in early June. We go in June becuase of the high water run-off, little or no dust, the wild life and the weather. Get a National Forest map, they have have some great trails to ride that are not shown on the Paiute Trail map.

I will be riding the Paiute trail the first week of June. We will be staying in Marysvale. If anyone can give me some insight on "must do trails" to see it would be great. Thanks

Do they still do them little rafting trips at BRCM?
Lord, grant me the senility to not recognize the people I don't like, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference

Buy the National Geographic map of the Paiute trail, it is great listing all trails and rating them.
