2008 Dodge Ram Cummins 6.7 Liter 4x4 LWB Stock - with Lance 1030 Slide in. 11,500 lbs. Gross
Took a 4200 mile trip June 2008 from Arkansas to Montana, Utah, Colorado etc.
Averaged 13.3 mpg hand calculated for entire trip. Engine had 4,000 miles on it when we left.
Took an 800 mile trip in November 2008 from Arkansas to Ft. Worth, TX pulling a 31' Laredo 5th wheel RV against a head wind traveling divided highways and I-44 from Tulsa to OKC and I-35 from OKC to Ft. Worth. 70 mph. Average 10.2 mpg hand calculated. Return trip up US 69, I-40 and I-540 traveling 65-70 mph, average just over 11 mpg with a light tailwind.
Will be traveling 860 miles to Bristol, TN in 1-1/2 weeks on I-540, I-40, & I-81 and hope to see 13 mpg pulling same Laredo 5th wheel RV. Truck mileage is over 14K.
Thanks for this thread very interesting. I thought to change my 1500 6,0L gas for a diesel engine (diesel (oil ?) is cheaper than gas in France !) and did not know what brand to choose.
Hope read more answers with data !
With the rig in my signature I get 13-14 (hand calculated) loaded with the camper if I keep the speed around 60 MPH. The rare times I drive it unloaded I get around 20 when running empty on the highway.
04 Dodge 1 ton dually, Cummins, auto, quad cab, 4x4, SLT, Sport, Reese Titan V
04 Lance 1161, TV/DVD, high efficiency A/C, Honda EU2000
Loaded for a long tip I average 13.5. Trips with a full tank of water some food, not much else maybe 14+. In the mountains or with a stiff head wind or in the winter 12.5.
All hand calculated.
