Just for information purposes - NONE of the public campgrounds in Kansas will allow Off Roading. Every one has signs posted "vehicles on roadways only" and it's enforced.

If you guys have as big of lists as you do, I'll set up a Truck Camper Wiki, which will allow each of you to add your sites as you wish, and I'll keep a watch on the content. Then, I'll simply link the various sections of the wiki back to the thread, making it more user driven.

Alright, I'm installing the MediaWiki Software and base configuring a Truck Camper Wiki Site. This will allow for us to compile all of our truck Camper knowledge, both for campgrounds, places to overnight, walldock, etc, projects, if wanted, into one non-profit website.

At some point, if we want to pass around hte collection plate, we can register a permanent domain for it, but for now, it'll just start off as a subdomain to one of my personally owned ones.

I'll post the link, with the beginnings of the campground archive in it, once I get it done. Hopefully, I'll have it ready to go by tomorrow night.

If folks with internet art skills want to post some ideas for a logo for it, go right ahead.

Once I get it going, I may also incorporate the Dealer's Sticky into it, so that it can be readily searched, and user updated. I'll likely create some user groups and set the change permissions to them to those groups to prevent vandalization.

....what is the "background color" of the body of the site? How wide can the logo be (max width)? Can't design a logo not knowing this

Alright folks, the rough base form of the website is now online, if you go back to my original post, it has the information pertaining to the new Camper Wiki .

Joe:

Can you PM me your e-mail address? I've created a logo (in PSD format, preserving all the layers, with transparent background) you can float in the Wiki logo socket.

Additionally, I'm creating an SVG clickable map of the US with the regions you've listed...

Cheers,

Logo design thoughts:

-the Wiki connotes geographical locations across North America, so a map background would be appropriate, rather than a shot of a sunset or landscape;

-the Wiki focuses on truck campers, so the foreground features a transparent outline of a truck camper;

-the transparent outline of the truck camper is a perspective view, angled in towards the West, subliminally suggesting movement "West";

-the text "Wiki" and "Truck Camper" float over the logo in a way that makes it clear that the site is a "Wiki on truck campers..."

Cheers,
Silver-

Where would one add campgrounds that allow truck campers as long as they stay on the truck?

Good job Joe. Here is a site that I just added a bunch of locations in Missouri to, mainly along I-70 for people just passing through the state. I have a bunch more I could add to your wiki when I get some time, and as soon as I figure out how it works .

Check this site though. It is pretty good and easy to upload info, even if a little slow.
