Be careful not to turn too sharp even with a superglide, this happened in our group on Sunday.

Pictures and full details are here:

Here are the pics. Looks like he might have turned too sharp for the capture plate to bend in that direction. Either way that really sucks. You are right though, the damage to his truck is light.

Does it say what it is from? Could something have gotten wedged in the cam assembly? Or forgot to remove the pinbox cam before towing with a non slide pullrite? All I see is the pictures by my3wags.

Hmmm, that's almost exactly what mine looked like, but mine was self inflicted. I used the wrong lube, silicon instead of the recommended Slip Plate. Did he go past 90 degrees? I'm sorry, but I don't think we've gotten the whole story here.

I had mine SuperGlide 24k spread open too. Like SoCalGlide PullRite claimed it was my fault. In the end they replaced a bunch of stuff, I bought one part. I would highly recommend using the Slip Plate as well and not silicone unless you are going to completely wipe all silicone off after each trip to make sure there isn't any dirt or sand in it. I still have the 24k, haven't sold it yet.

I painted a line on the locking ring to visually confirm that it did wrap completely around the pin, and I keep the rails clean and well greased to make sure that it doesn't bind, especially on the inner rail surfaces.
The manual I have states to use light oil (WD40) on the locking mechanism and heavy duty grease on the rails, which I use Mobil 1 synthetic grease that I clean and re-grease before each trip.
