Do you find you have enough room under the awning when that bunk is open? That would be my biggest concern. We like to sit out under the awning more than inside and this looks like the useable area would be limited, especially with the door right in the middle of that space.
Anyway, I made the mistake of mentioning it to DW that I was helping our friends look into this and she loves the idea of 3 bunks. Says she would be interested in upgrading to something like this if our friends decide to pass. The friends are still thinking it over. Even if they take it, I have the feeling I'll be in the market for something similar soon.

There is room in front of that bunk to put a few chairs and still be under the awning.
About the only negative I can add about this 3 bunk configuration is, we go to the Nascar races with our camper, and the area they give you is pretty small, about 20 ft wide. They try to put the non-door side of the camper right on the edge of your spot, so with a bunk on that side, it extends into our neighbors spot. We've been lucky to always camp with friends and our friend will camp on that side of us.
My unit also has the aluminum roof, with I think is the last year KZ Coyote did that, then they switched to rubber.

The main differences would be the door latch design - I believe those older models used the screw knobs instead of the truck latches. I would be most concerned about the tentage. We had ours replaced twice under warranty and they have since changed the design. Very loose fit...tearing in the top corners.

Ditto on the tents and door latches. Ours is on the 2nd set of tents, which are still the old style and they have some tears in the corners. Coyote gave us a deal on the new style tents but I've yet to install them.
As for the latches, I always put a safety pin in mine so they don't drop to the side and leave the door unsecured.
I have the screw type latches on mine...never gave me any problem. I agree that the newer style would be more convenient, but as long as I don't over-tighten the screw latch, they work fine. If you do torque them down too much, you might get leaks lower on the door as the seal won't be consistent.

Regarding the screw type, I've got one that the threads on it always rust up and the handle that you use to tighten and loosen it, has come loose a bit, so I need a pair of pliers to turn the threaded rod to tighten it.
Our friends decided to pass on this one saying they weren't sure this is what they wanted and are going to keep shopping. As I was afraid of, DW wants to go see it this weekend so we'll see where that goes. At least I know the things to look for thanks to all y'all.
