Hubby and I are considering this vehicle. We do not own an RV yet but are in the market for fifth wheels. Would this vehicle be one we should consider? It has a V8 Engine and is a Turbo Diesel. We really can't afford any more truck than this, but are still on the fence. Your thoughts are appreciated. I'm pasting the specs that I have below. Thanks!
PS We are also looking at an F250 with 10 cylinders, but it's specs are not as great, and it's gas powered.

Looks like it's a crew-cab long-bed dually diesel. Should be able to pull most fifth wheelers out there, aside from the really BIG ones. Happy camping!
Make sure you get an oasis report, which shows what work, if any, has been done to it. Some 6.0L diesels have had problems, but not all. Get it checked by a mechanic as well before you plop down the money.
Truck in sig. pulls 5th wheel in sig , even though they have never seen the scales, the truck never breakes a sweat pulling.(5ver has a 14k gvwr).
Fully loaded family of 5 for a 5 day weekend with tool box in bed and 3 milk crates of fire wood and a big cooler full ,all hitched up ,toped of w/ fuel ect....the truck still sits on the high side of the 4ft level bubble.
Thats a comfortable feeling going down the road...

If it is "a crew-cab long-bed dually diesel", it should have a 35 gallon fuel tank (not 29 gallon).
Two of the most important specs (to me) that are missing are the axle ratio and is it limited slip differential (I, persoanlly wouldn't buy if it wasn't limited slip).
I guess the question is what size trailer do you plan to buy?

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!
Hmmm, thanks everyone. This is a truck at Carmax, and I have discovered since posting this thread that what I see on the listing is not necessarily true of the particular truck for sale. Most misleading. So, I don't even know if what I posted was correct now :-( So, I definitely don't know anything about the axle ratio and the limited slip differential (not that I have a clue what that is anyway...!)
I am not even sure Carmax can tell me anything, the salesman who called us (as this vehicle is in a different state and would need to be freighted in) didn't know much.
Yet, we can't afford brand new. So, really clueless now on what to do..
We haven't purchased a fiver yet, but we've been looking at the Sundance, both the extra light and the 2900MK. On the other hand, if we can get a good used one, we also like the Landmark Augusta, which I'm pretty sure is heavier...
Make sure it is an 05 or later, lot of top end problems on earlier models. Should have a 35 gal fuel tank, the 4x4 makes it limited slip. Will pull anything you hook up to. I have a 36ft flatbed that I haul hay with. 21 bails at 1100 lbs each with empty trailer weight of 9150lbs total 32250 lbs NOT including the TV. Does a good job.

Limited slip is (or at least was in 05) an option on 4X4 or 2X4. One of my buddies has an 05 without it (and it is a 4X4).
Sure, you can pull a 32,250 lb trailer, but not safely. NOTHING (frame, tires, brakes, springs, etc.) on an F-350 is built for that kind of weight. I hope law enforcement finds you before you have a bad accident that injures (or worse) you or someone else!
merrickmgt,
Limited slip is an option that makes both rear wheels turn together when one side loses traction. If you have ever pushed on a car that is stuck and noticed only one tire spinning, that vehicle does not have limited slip.
Have you tried looking locally, so that you might be able to look at the truck and maybe even talk to the former owner?
If you are looking at a light trailer, a dually might be overkill. THis is my first dually (pickup) and, probably, my last. I expect to go to a lighter trailer in the future and back to SRW truck.
