After reading through this, there is one thing that I've found with regard to using computer fans. They are not all created equal. The same two fans with the same CFM, one will pull .20 amps and the other will pull .70 amps. That's a big difference. I went through a lot of computers looking for one that pulled a low amount of current with the maximum amount of airflow. I eventually found one for a power supply that pulled a low amount an moved a lot of CFM - but the caveat was it was an OLD computer and power supply. Seems back then they were cheaper and created them with lower output power supplies and cut the consumption wherever possible.

I dug into two old computers this past week, one a 386 the other a 486, Man I remember how much I paid for that 486! I got 3 fans, two off power supplies and one off something else. The two off the power supplies were the same physical size, one drew .17 amp and one .18.

How did you attach the fan to the fins?

I just ordered one of these fans. Did you get better cooling with it?

Not sure what fan you ordered. If it was one of theses Ebay Fans then they are very simple clip on.
As far as do they help, D wife and I love these fans. We have a spare just in case ours goes south. We have had ours I guess going on 4 seasons and it runs as good now as it did when it was new. I can set my reefer on 5 the coldest setting and fan blowing,, my temp will chill down to 25 degrees inside reefer and -4 degrees in freezer.I usually leave my setting on 3 and temps stay 33 degrees in reefer and 2 degrees in freezer. Hope this helps.

It has a clip if it is this fan. Mine if I recollect was folded down between the 2 fans for shipment. It is green ( how ever they may have changed clip suppliers, different color now?) If clip is between the fans fold it up,attach it to the fin. It will hang like a postcard, just like in picture of EBAY AD. LINK is how it will look, as you can see the fins are behind it. If no clip I would contact them to see how it mounts now days. Did you have directions with it. They are GREAT EBAYER's and are willing to help you out in any way form or fashion. Shoot there ad states 7 day money back if not satisfied. Let me know if you need my help. allegrobro
