I had to remove the old vinyl flooring. Now the subfloor is very sticky! How do I remove the old cement? Thanks George

I laid mine over the old glue, just make sure that it is smooth or any bumps will show/wear through.

Don't forget to put your heating elements in first so you can have a heated floor

Missed the part about the glue. I laid mine right over top of the old vinyl.

I used one of these to remove the sticky cardboard

I could not get the sticky stuff off. Since its right on the OSB, there really is no way to use any solvents to strip it off, either. But I got it to be fairly smooth. Then, you need to be extra careful cleaning and removing all particles because they will stick to the floorboard.

Took about 2 hours just scraping off the cardboard backing of the old floor which was still stuck to the OSB. If I had to do it again, I would lay the new floor on top of the old one and put some cardboard or whatever in the place where the old floor absolutely had to be removed. So all would be level again.

The replacement floor probably has a thicker backing which helps with the uneven surface that remains.

Best regards
Joerg

I had to repair some floor damage and had to remove some of the vinyl. Old vinyl was in poor condition so I could not put it back in. So after removing all the vinyl I scrapped up the paper backing and as much glue as possible. Then I put down a sheet of 1/4" luan under layment. Put vinyl on that. No glue. It lays very flat without the glue. Added few more pounds to the camper but looks great. Such fun George

We were considering that. But if it gets damp underneath it becomes a mess. Pergo and others advise not using there products in situations where there is a lot of moister. We have a lot of Pergo in our home. great stuff for sure.

Here you go, citrus adhesive remover

I have used this in homes and commercial buildings great stuff; we got ours at Home Depot. You could put a fan or small electric heater to dry out the camper floor after removing the sticky.

I put laminate in over the old lino and just sealed the perimeter with silicone seal before putting the trim on. We were camping in April when it rained about half the time and had no problems. If it ever did have issues, it's easy to replace. The stuff from Costco has the foam attached to the back which makes it super easy to lay down.
