Here's the pump info from mikuni directly. http://www.mikuni.com/c-fuel_pumps.html To make this work, you need to put a "Port" in a carburator so the suction from the carb will move the gas. I don't know if I really need an extended run tank - but I like the idea of using a boat tank connector which is inline with the generator's fuel tank. The trouble I'm having is finding a way to seal the generators tank off (which I think can be done with a simple brass valve) so that the suction will pull from the external boat tank not the generators internal tank.

this group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Honda_EU2000_Generators/ has all the modifications you could ever want. They have some great ideas about how not only to create the extended run tanks but also how to affix the unit to you RV and not have it get stolen. You'll see one of the idea's on the main page.

Take Care,

Josh

Oh, here's a link to west marine where they have many different quick connects that I've seen on the Honda Site.

I've been scratching my head over these k/o Chinese Inverters. Maybe they are not a K/O of the Honda at all. When you look close at some of the posted pictures of the Honeywell, it appears to me that the carb' looks like the one on a 6.5 hp 3000w Chinese genset. The one on the Honeywell looks to have a electronic control on the top of the carb' that comes from the inverter? Now something else to be noticed on the Honeywell. On another thread there was a posting of a diagram of the Honda 2000i. It shows a patented airflow with double sound lowering panels. The Honeywell seems to be just incased in a plastic case. The lower noise level of the Honeywell would come from a smaller engine able to operate at a lower RPM than the standard 3600 RPM gensets, at least with less amp demand. All of the k/o Chinese inverters may be a smart buy however, even if the noise level might be high to your desire. My question. Will any of the Chinese Inverters ever be as quiet as the mother of the Inverters?

Just picked up the Honeywell 2000i at Home Depot in Ankeny, Iowa. There was only one in the store and it was located sitting on a shelf by all the generators. No price sticker on the box and no sign to show the price. I took it up to the cash register and asked for a price check. $299 was the reply. Out came the Visa and out the door I went with it. (I checked my other Home Depot in Urbandale last night and none there)

Tonight I am going to run it side by side with my Champion. Will post my "comments" tomorrow in a new thread.

I checked 2 stores in Omaha with no luck.
If you find another one let me know and I* might have to do a road trip.

BREAKING NEWS.....

Okay, I did not have a lot of time this weekend to compare my Honeywell 2000 to my Champion. However, I just completed one test of the Honeywell. I have a 13,500 BTU A/C on my TT. The Honeywell powered it just fine!!! Of course I shut off all breakers except the A/C and started the fan first. Then I kicked in the compressor. The A/C ran for 10 mins with no problem. The gennys running full bore, though!

Other notes:
Still waiting on parts from Champion for pieces broke when it was purchased. Champion has great customer support and friendly staff. The plastic housing behind the instrument panel was broke, they are sending me a new plastic part. Going to have to disconnect EVERY wire from instrument panel to install new housing. Not excited about that.

Weight: Really like the weight of the HW over the Champion. The Champion is really a two person move if going more than 20 feet or so. (I'm a young 39 too!)

Noise: DW and DS both thought they sounded exactly the same DB wise when running at full power (Eco "off" on the HW). The HW "ECOs down" when just running battery charger and lights. Much quieter in ECO.

We leave Thursday for long trip. Have decided to take the HW since we will only have four days of boondocking in a National Park and A/C isn't really needed.

That's all for now...

Just thought of something else. I have paid so far...
Champion $299 at Tractor Supply
HoneyWell $299 at Home Depot
That's $598 TOTAL invested in two GREAT generators. Each serves a purpose. I love the thought of the Champion available at home if the power goes out too.

I have a Honda EU3000is I bought after Hurricane Katrina to back feed my home. It works great. I paid 1670.00 for it. I was in Home Depot last week and stumbled upon the Honeywell HW2000i for 299.00. I went home and returned later and bought it as a back up and for my elderly Dad should he need it. Ii is not a Honda , but I feel that it is a good value for the money. I have back feed my house with the HW and it did ok to run my fridge and 6000.00 BTU window unit and a couple lights. So far so good...

I have been using our Honda2000 for three years now, so I know what a quiet generator is like in normal campground situations. This weekend, I had the opportunity to camp with a fellow with the Honeywell 2k generator. I was very curious to see just how it performed and how I "perceived" the noise level to be. He plugged it into his trailer mostly for battery charging duties with the 25 ft cord and another 25 ft extension. Combined with where the cord exits his trailer, our sitting area would be about 35-40 feet from the genset. I was very impressed by the sound level and quality, and would have to say that I would happilly camp in confined quarters with somebody using it for an hour or two in the am and pm (much like I do with my Honda). For the $600 CDN that he paid, he is way ahead of me $$ wise on his purchase so now it remains to be seen if it lives a long and healthy life. A great alternative to the contractor grade units out there.

thank you, its refreshing to get a report & nice opinion about 'real a use situation' from someone that owns a Honda 2000.

There is a fuel pump on the honeywell. Just went and bought another one at depot. They had over ten fathers day (Im in hurricane alley), and I got the last one in the box today. There is 1 left, the one that was on the floor on display. I am going to buy a HONDA sticker. Place it over my honeywell's sticker, and I will be the envy of the pits with my NEW STYLE HONDA 'till it breaks. Than Ill buy another, and put the sticker on it, too. I wonder if that would void the warranty? Bet a Honda sticker is ...like...seventy bucks proably. Mrwiz will take pics now...
