I have a 97 Damon Challenger motorhome and my LP gas detector keeps beeping every 4-5 minutes. two or three beeps each time. The green power light does not stay on. It will if you push the test button but then it will go back off. I have had the motorhome since 2004 and have never had any problems with them before. The one in the bedroom does not seem to work either. How long do these detectors last? I do not smell any gas and we have been out in it since sunday. It just started doing this last night (the one in the livingroom). I had not noticed the one in the bedroom. This is the second time we have been out this year, everything else checked out just fine on the first trip. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

You describe the symtoms of a low or dead battery. The LP detector will act just like that if you have a vey low battery. JMHO

Gas detectors are good 5 to 10 years. You can kill power to the unit and reset it but it should be replaced.

Sam is correct.

Both my carbon monoxide detector and LP detector died a couple of months ago.
The CO detector started beeping every 30 seconds and the LP detector just started beeping all the time. The Co detector had an "replace after" date on the side and it died about a month before the date.
The manual for the LP detector said to replace 5 years after a date sticker in the manual. It died about six months or so after the date.

Low or dead battery is one cause..... Another is "General fault, internal"

First check your batteries, if they are full up press and hold the RESET/TEST switch till it alarms,

That should reset it

A couple of new detectors would be a good and not very expensive investment , for your safety.

Mine did it when the main TT battery went low.

Mine did the same thing. I had to replace it. That was much easier than trying to figure it out and discovering that it needed to be replaced anyway.
