Hello
My mother-in-law was wanting me to put A/C in her pup but when I looked at it the roof vent is a 9"x9" and is offset toward the back of the camper and there is no outline that I can see in the outside or inside of the roof to cut another hole she said when she bought it new and the dealer told her it was braced for an A/C but she didnt know if that was just a salesman trying to sell her a camper so since it is not mine I wanna make sure I cut in the right place if I mess her camper up I may pay for it for years lol

Thank You
Johnnie

The existing 9"x9" vent hole is the very hole you'll use for the air conditioner.

I would suggest going with a Carrier A/C. Expect to spend over $600 on the A/C if you install it yourself.

If there are no braces on the underside of the interior roof, then chances are they are internal to the roof - assuming the saleman was forthcoming and knowledgeable.

Not installed my self, BUT our trailer is AC Ready. Not sure how you find the spot, but early in the morning, I can see the outline on the roof of the bracing.
Another clue for it to be AC ready is the 20 amp circuit and the wiring leading away from it and off to the roof somewhere. Ours is inside a hose, behind the curtain.
HTH a little.

My apologies for not paying closer attention.

According to the Carrier manual, in fact, you'll need a 14"x14" hole.
Quote:

Examine the roof opening size. If the opening is smaller than 14”x14”, the opening must be enlarged. If the opening exceeds 14”14”, a mounting plate (frame) must be fabricated to reduce the opening size (See Figure 1).

as found on Carrier's website.

Another indicator to look for is a dedicated circuit breaker in your power converter box, depending on what model they used in that PUP. Thankfully, the mfgr installed labels on my two 120volt breakers: 20amp for A/C, 10amp for everything else.
Check your circuit breaker for the 120volts, and see what's there. Depending on the style they used, you might be able to add your own circuit just for A/C if it's not wired this way.
WORD OF CAUTION: be VERY careful that you understand wiring before attempting any yourself. Overloading or exceeding what the camper and it's electrical supply can handle is dangerous.

OK guys.... a 91 Valor? I've never heard of one, which means I'm not going to tell you where to put an AC unit in or if it's ready to carry the weight of one.
Do you have any more info on that PUP?
