You can try Mojave Narrows in Victorville. They have horse rentals, a lake, creeks, and camping. Might have to call a week before hand.

Just came back from from Glass Creek campground between Mammoth Lakes and June Lake. We spent six days camping next to a burbling creek and beautiful pine trees. No reservations and no camping fees. Pit toilets if needed.

The family and I have been visiting the Mammoth area for ten years now and still love it.

PM me if you need more info.

We just came back from Hurkey Creek this past 4th weekend. It does have a small creek and my kids found lots of critters in it. Great trees and is in Mountain Center by Lake Hemet kind of by Idyllwild. I booked our reservations about a month out for the weekend of the 4th. Has no hook-ups but does have showers and restrooms.

How were the temps up there? I rode a dual sport ride in May and it was quite warm anywhere down lower than Idyllwild. What is the elevation of the park relative to the town. Idyllwild is quite a throwback town for those that have never been there. Kind of a "hippy" town feel. Lots of bikers on the weekend ride through and in the center of town is a restaurant, Annas I believe, where they have live music and outdoor seating under the trees, quite nice.

Memorial Day I spent a week at Los Preitos Campground. Its
on Paridise Road Rec area behind Santa Barbara on the other
side of San Marcos Pass. Very nice but no hook ups. I used my
gen and no one complained. My trailer is 25ft and I bearly had enough
room for the truck to park in the same spot. These sites are very
old and not very big but the scenery makes up for it. I rode my
dirt bike on the Camusa Road and its lots of fun. Costs $9.50 per
day with a Golden Access Pass. This is a very afforadble rate becouse
the area does not have many cg's and you can dump at Lake Cachuma for
free which is a few miles down the road. There are other cg's on
Paradise Road but I only checked out this one.
