Trying to connect Winegard Carrout to Dish 612 receiver. This is what I have tried so far:

Disconnect cable from box and save checkswitch.

Changed co axel

moved position of sat.

Tried different transponders.

Once it found the sat 119 but never locked long enough for me to switch test. Since then it can find no sat. It looks for a period and then stops. The only way to get it to look again is to unplug and replug. I am using the Sunforce ac/dc converter.

Haven't been able to get through Winegard. Any further suggestion. I thought this was suppose to be easy.

I am sure this isnt it but.
Does Dish do software updates?
I have a dome and a portible. The dome wouldnt work because of trees.
I could NOT sight in the portible for NOTHING. And I NEVER had a problem.
I found out that during a upgrade. The receiver defaulted to SWM as opposed to Multiswitch. I would reset the receiver and went NUTS when I couldnt sight the sat in. After a day and a half and setting it to Multiswitch in the sat setup, I went outside and bamm.
Again, this just happened in a June software download.

It probley has nothing to do with it. But a thought.
Check the setup in the receiver.

Did you take the dome off and set the switches for Dish. It comes all set up for DirecTV.
#2: The carryout has a SW64 switch in it. Dish, through updates, has inadvertantly created a problem with this legacy switch. They have fixed it with one receiver, due to loud complaints on a forum, and are correcting the problem with additional receivers one at a time.
You will have to run the coax directly to your receiver also.
I would suggest going to the Winegard website and locating their forum on the carryout. I took mine back to CW. I do think it will be the cat's meow when Dish gets up to speed on their software though.

Be sure the Carryout switches inside dome are set for Dish network. Disconnect the cable from the receiver. Run check switch. Save results, which should say unknown switch. Reconnect Carryout to receiver, and power up Carryout while receiver is looking at point dish screen for 119 transponder 21. Wait until the point dish screen shows a lock for 119 for about 30 seconds. That means it has found the other locations and has settled on 119. Run check switch again. Save results, it should now say SW64 switch has been found. Exit from screen and let the receiver do it's thing finding satellite and downloading program guide. You should be all set.
