Looking at pups in the paper and internet I got to wondering about the slides. Where we want to camp there is no extension cord long enough. Do you need electric or is the battery good enough? What happens if your battery dies? Can they be worked manually? Wasn't wanting a slideout but saw one I like that happens to have one at a good price,, older unit.

Most if not all slide will have a manual crank in case of total power failure. So if you are dry camping and do not have a way of regenerating power from sources such as generator or solar panel, at least you can manually crank your slides in should your batteries fail.

Good luck.

Some years of the Coleman/Fleetwoods have actual handles on the outside of the slide, you unlock the slideout and pull it open till it locks.

Yup, my older Coleman the slide opened like a big drawer. As far as battery you can add a second or more for additional power or get a small generator to recharge the battery like a Honda or Yamaha 1000w. The single battery should get you through a weekend with reasonable conservation. Then you add what you need for your style of camping.

What if the slide motor fails.. what if a fuse blows and you don't have one.. on and on.

Make sure your battery is in good shape. make sure your converter(if you have one ) works. Bring along a spare good battery. Bring jumper cables in case you need to use the tow vehicle.

in short, be prepared and you'll be fine.

My Fleetwood Niagara has a slide-out dinette. Simply unlock then pull the slide out until it locks (after having raised the roof).

Thus far, I've never read of non-manual slide outs in a PUP.

Great, thank you. That helps a lot, will help calm some nerves, mostly the hubby.
