We have an 08 Damon Essence withe plastic(?) film on the front. I am not sure it is 3M, but it is some sort of adhesive to protect the paint. This sping while heading to S Dakota, we came through Iowa and wiped out half the bug population I-80. I have washed it several times and got most of the body pieces off, but cannot get what appears to be a stain or possibly minute body pieces embedded in the film. It makes a dull and somewhat rough spot where ever a bug collided. I have been using warm water and Blue Coral soap/wax cleaner and cold water with the same cleaner. No luck other that getting the bug guts off. Ideas on what to use to make it look like is should or did when it was new? I am afraid that I will have a mess if I try to take the stuff off, but I really don't care for it at all.
I have the 3m Film and no problems at all. It mostly depends on how it is cared for. Bounce dryer sheets remove the stubborn bugs and stain with a good car wash soap. Never use dishwashing soap.
I have the film and only recently tried the Bounce sheets. Just wet one with warm water and wipe away. I am astonished at how easy they come off. I live in rice country and the bugs sound like rain sometimes.
We have the "Genuine Diamond Shield" and I think it's garbage. A rock hit cannot be repaired, as you say the bugs stick INTO it, not on it and when you try to get them off you end up leaving a dull spot that cannot be shined up again. I started removing it and had good success with the upper piece on the generator shield. It did pull 2 small pieces of the clear coat off smaller than a dime on 2 edges, but these were easily repaired. We'll NEVER get a rig with Diamond Shield again.
