I've been to a couple of them. They seem to be loads of fun. I tried getting one going on another forum for going to Wallowa Lake East Oregon (trees, mountains, highest north American gondola, nice lake, great town to vist nearby, very good eatery near camp) but no motivation to get it going..... What gives with that?

Can anyone explain why these things don't get off the ground too easily?

Hard to understand when they can be so fun.

You have to understand that TCer as a whole come in two groups. One group have a TC you they can get away at a moments notice and have not a plan on what to do or where to go. The nomad life style. They do not like to plan or have someone plan something for them. These are a majority of TCers. Another group is just looking for a reason to go. These people would probably come to a gathering but would not want to spend hours on the planning and logistics needed to do it right. Just start a thread and see how many respond.

I see. Then too it's difficult to guarantee overnite sites where they do not have group sites available.

Another campout was fun in the past, about 5 rvs, guessing because it was not structured, no schedule just do what you want. Everyone seemed to get together sharing what they were doing during some part of the weekend. It was great.

Up here on Vancouver Island I would have to reserve a group camp a year in advance. Not really a big deal financially, but they after getting the site booked, you start looking for people to come to it.

Always there will be those that want to come at the last minute, or have to cancel at the last minute... it's the nature of the beast.

On another forum I belong to for motorhomes they pick sites and book them a year or more in advance, then people sign up for it over the year before it happens.

Certainly having a rally for all kinds of vehicles and campers would be fun and is perhaps a good thing for more remote areas like here. Rallies are about people, not the type of camping equipment you have.

I think so too..... my brother has a motorhome and he's fun to camp with as well as others.

I didn't realize that reservations had to happen up to a yr in advance..

Because of the amount of people participating too, I don't think you can often pick a premium location. Most folks want the recreational aesthetic atmosphere i.e. trees, mountains, nice peaceful lake etc.

However, difficult they can be a blast.

I would love to go on a rally. I have had motorcycles all my life and been on more motorcycle rallies than I could count. Never been on an RV, TT, or TC rally though. They sound fun!

I know, however, how good it is to be around others in campers and the like when I go out myself. For me, sitting around listening to stories of people's travels and experiences is always pleasurable, and the knowledge from old-hand campers is beyond invaluable.

Maybe we can get a small group interested in going to Wallowa Lake, Oregon this fall (after labor day). It is a wonderful time to be up there. If you have apples you can feed the Elk too, they are huge, esp. up close.

I'm thinking around Sept. 23rd, 24th &the 25th. This way we get in on a weekday and the Tramway is still running being it's the last weekend to be open. It's a great ride up the mountain this way.

Please post or PM me if you are interested. Maybe we can get even a small group campout interested in hiking the mountain top from the gondola. There are beautiful sweeping views from up there.

BTW, you can also tie off your boat overnight at the lake if you wish.

Hello Everyone,,,

Hi Covered Wagon...

I think what makes our North-East Truck Camping Jamboree's so sucessful is when We have them.

Approaching a Campground Owner and negociating a discount before or after the so called "Peak" R/V Season-(Memorial Day to Lador Day)is very enticing to them. They are getting 30 to 40 rigs for a 3 night rezzy before the peak season where normally they might get a whole lot less Campers.

Heck I just negociated a 25% discount off the daily price for our May-2010 Jamboree. Also got them to open up the pool and fire off the heater, reserved the 40x60 tent(No cost) for our Buffee and 2 other activities I have planned.
I can also say that other Campground Owner's I approached were not as receptive to my requests and it was their loss..

We have an awsome group of core People who show up at just about every Jamboree and help out greatly. The Wagon Masters who are directly responsible for the planning of their Jamboree could not have done a better job and putting their own Personel Touch makes each Jamboree unique.

Our first Jamboree (May of 2007) I was a nervious wreck. Having no expierance and a "What the heck am I getting Myself into" attitude made it worse. But they came from all over.

I would like to take this orportunity to thank Brad & Wayne and the Adminstators of this forum for letting Us post and get out the word of our Jamboree's.With/out RV.Net I/m not sure we would be in existance today!!!
