I'm definitely late to the party but am proud of the direction this thread is going. Having reviewed the entire thread, it appears the moderator has no objection to tick picking and other expressions of art. Kind of a Cum By Ya moment.
We did have to tippy-toe around a few items, but got the job done. Monkey is still traveling from east to west, and is currently in Mojave CA after a remarkable week in Death Valley, and a remarkable week before that along the Oregon Coast -- on the way back to Florida starting next week, still looking for the best rest-stop to have our first annual 'stop & hop' dance -- haven't make up my mind yet, but still still chic-pickin' as I go, these old eyes just never rest ... right nice country we have here --

Well there in lies the original problem. You have just hit mohave and when the thread started we were getting ready to leave. You were never on the correct wavelength.

Well, seems to me there is only ONE wavelength, and we're all riding it, just at different times and places
I suppose it will be OK to dance in the rest stops,
What???? Now you want to take business away from the poor struggling dancehalls????
Some might feel you should only dance in dancehalls, not rest stops!!! If you're not careful they will be taking this issue up with city councils all across the country in an effort to ban this practice. Dancing in rest areas is only allowed by the poor trucker needing a little exercise after driving so many hours.
And, consider the names you will be called..... "freeloader, cheapskate, etc., etc."
I think sometimes we forget that the freedoms we have are freedoms not because of celebrities. The freedoms are because of ordinary people who did extraordinary things, who loved this country more than life itself.

You "may" be right here, I mean, just may be -- but the poor, tired truckers need someone to dance WITH, remember. And some truckers might be too tired to dance with one another, so we, as lively and conscientious campers and RV'rs, will jump right up there and dance with the truckers - and will only 'practice' our dancing with other RV'rs so we stay in shape for the truckers whenever they need us.
As for the dance halls ... will help them too, not hinder them. A special license to the dance halls and each one can open a small corner shop beside the dog-walks and teach dancing (for a small fee)right there on the grass - that way, everyone learns properly and no RV'r will step on any tired trucker toes while he/she's getting his/her exercise after a long day hauling freight.

You make some very good points monkey44, but have you considered the ramifications should a RVer even accidentally step on the trucker's toe?. You are talking major lawsuit here by the Teamsters Union, ACLU and probably ACORN, just to name a few. Lost time accident, unavoidable. Who will support his family now and how will he be able to spend countless hours on his CB with unintelligible dribble.
As far as the dancehalls, would they be able to attract enough non-pet owners who would want to dance next to a dog walk? Also, those who own cats, now there is a whole other issue as to where they could dance with so many dogs running around.
Would there be live music? Country Western or Ballroom? Would dress be Western or Formal?
The main point however, are those who would be anti-rest area dancing and their objections to so many RV's parked taking up such valuable spaces (otherwise sanctioned for the chosen ones), with their jacks down, grills out and probably awnings opened and possibly even a patio mat. My, the very picture in my mind just simply overwhelms me.

The music varies, changes style and category every hour on the hour, and comes from RV and Truckers alike who each tune to the same station for that hour and turn up the speakers.
Anyone who extends awnings or slides, and places mats on the 'black turf' fails the courtesy class, and is automatically disqualified and must depart the premises immediately.
Oh, forgive me, I forgot the most important thing ... and you just reminded me. The dance lessons are DESIGNED to teach RV'rs how to dance with tired truckers, but as an added incentive and a last resort mind you, for a token fee, the truckers can join the group and learn how to 'accidentally' stick at least ONE toe beneath an RV'rs dancing feet. Then, that trucker can easily win the lawsuit and retire, buy an RV with the spoils, and help fill rest stops with laughter and above all else, more dancing feet.
I suppose you could be right about the awnings, slides and mats, but there probably should be a rest area policeman assigned by popular vote including both parties (RVer's & Truckers - Campground Owners need not apply).
Your point is taken about the dance lessons and teaching a Trucker how to slip his (probably barefoot) toes under the unsuspecting RVer, but by amassing his millions by suing the RVer, there will be one less RVer on the highways and one more Trucker disguised as a RVer. (He can't let his other trucker good buddies know he is now living the good life) and one more Lawyer who has reached a higher tax bracket (now, that's an oxymoron - Lawyer paying taxes - foolish me).
I will agree on one major point however, with the scenes described, the rest area would be filled with laughter. One could only visualize the picture.
