I have an '08 Tundra and towing weight is not a problem. Carrying capacity is! My tongue weight is about 900#'s and with me, wife and dog in the truck and a full tank of fuel, I've reached max. carrying capacity. If I begin loading the bed with inflatable boat, grill, chairs, etc., I then exceed carrying capacity. In short, don't worry about towing capability but be concerned about 'carrying capacity'. / Larry

thats the problem I found with my 05 Dodge. My TT is well within my tow rating its the everything else that pushes me over the edge.

If you have the 5.7 drivetrain get a WD hitch with sway control and you are good to go. I just finished pulling a Jayco 31RKS all over the Western United States with my 08 Tundra and didn't have a problem. I set the cruise on 65 and it did it all day. My Jayco is 33' 8" long and loaded weighs in at just under 9000 lbs. The Tundra is one great truck and will do right by you.

But bnardini, you couldn't have, there are other posters who don't own Tundras who know better!

I'll agree with the other posts, cargo capacity will getcha long befor the weight of the trailer does. You should be OK with tow capacity if you have the 5.7L and tow package. There are good, appropriate suspension fixes to the cargo capacity issue.

My BIL got scared off of his F150 King Ranch crewcab because of hitch weight problems with his 28 11" Cougar and ended getting a F250 diesel. It was an unnecessary purchase, but he can afford it!

Tell me how they are inflated? Does this mean the new F150 with rating of 10,600 is also inflated?
Stop scaring the OP, his TV can safely handle his TT with the proper hitch. I drove a friend's Tundra with a 34' TT and it drove and towed great, with plenty of power, take off & stopping.
Not everyone can afford a 1 Ton dually to tow a TT a few times a year.

They are ALL inflated!!! We just happen to be talking about a Tundra here...

I'd like to see that truck (or any other truck with those inflated ratings) tow a #10,300 TRAVEL TRAILER for any distance... And you don't need a 1 ton dually for that trailer but you do need something more than a 1/2 ton...

You have your opinion - I have mine - and I have towed a lot of trucks with a lot of trailers for a lot of years!!! And I'm not trying to scare the OP with my comments, you should know better than to make a statement like that if you would bother to read any of my other thousands of posts here - rather I'm trying to see that he tows safely and with a little peace of mind!!!

OK, here goes. I did a lot of research when I was looking for a TV. I have always been a GM guy. The new redesigned Tundra with the 5.7 drive line and the factory tow package is darn near the equivalent of a Chevy 2500. So I repeat, with the proper hitch, towing a trailer that size will be no problem! As for Steveo35 all I have to say is "Did so!"

Too many people have been out of touch with changes in truck design for too long. The new generation Tundra is a full 3/4 ton in everything but name -- comparable to the F-250/Chev 2500 series but with better fuel mileage and cheaper to own and operate. The new Tundra is not a baby rice wagon. It's a real truck.

I also did the numbers when I was looking for a new TV and I discovered that yes it could tow it but as others have said what can't I put in the bed of my truck and more importantly in the passenger area of the truck. Well, the result was either take no firewood or recreation equipment not appropriate to be placed in the trailer or leave two of my family members at home. The answer was get a truck with more payload. So, if it is just he and the wife enjoy the new trailer. If not, enjoy the new truck and trailer.

Your Rockwood has a GVWR of 8300# and a hitch weight around 850#. Your Tundra has a towing cap of around 10,300# and a class IV hitch that has a cap of 1200# with a WD hitch. Your payload capacity of the Tundra is around 1600#.
With a good WD hitch, you Tundra can SAFELY tow this trailer.
