Hi,

Are the site on the water at Buffalo Point? And will we need a reservation or can we get it without? We typically don't travel without reservations but thought we would try it this time out and go as wish. We leave on Monday and have three weeks to follow the river from end to end. We have stayed at erbie but with the 35 ft MH it was a challenge....

Site suggestions would be great too!

As I recall, there are sites all along the river at Buffalo Point. It's doubtful that you would need a reservation to get in and PROBABLY not to get a site on the river. It's been a few years since we've camped there though but that certainly would have been the case a few years ago.

We camped there 5 times in the late 70's. Don't recall seeing any sites on the river, but it's not far from many of the sites. At that time I don't believe they took reservations, but operated on a first come first served basis. Things may be different now. Good look. You will love it. You must take the canoe ride from the Point to Rush.

Right now it probably not be a problem without reservation. A little later in Sept-october it may fill up for viewing Fall Leaves.

If you have been to Ernie than you know the upper river campgrounds are for tents - Tylers Bend has nice sites that will accommodate most sizes of RVs but no hookups - nice shower house - the sites are not on the water but you can almost walk to water access - Tylers is about mid point on the river - if you are there this fall - hope the leaves are turning - it can be beautiful - be sure and look for the elk in the evening by Ponca - you could spend the night at Lost Valley or Steel landing and just park in the parking lot - just stay away from Kyles Landing -it is the nicest campground but it is a heck of a hill to go down - and back up again - Lost Valley has a nice hike with water falls and caves - dont forget the flash light
