If you enjoy riding and spending your time with family in the Mojave desert (California) I'd suggest you do it more often.

As a modified Jeep Wrangler owner, I hate to say it, but when I go wheeling in AZ (and other places) I see many others not following orders given to them by rangers minutes after being told. Whether it be shooting in a no shooting area, leaving trash behind, or irresponsible off roading, I have seen it. Living in NY I am amazed at the trails and BLM land available to use out west. In NY everything is privately owned. Unless you have permission from land owners, you cannot wheel. I hope that westerners will take care of the off roading gem you have before it is all gated and closed.

While folks are busy arguing about Diesel engine oil, our areas to ride are diminishing. If off road users don't start paying attention and join groups like CORVA and the Blue Ribbon Coalition to stay informed, there will be no place for our kids to ride. If you don't know what CORVA and/or the Blue Ribbon Coalition are then you're part of the problem!

If we put as much effort into writing letters, sending faxes and making phone calls as we put into thumping our chests about our favorite MLM oil, or touting extended drain intervals, we would be able to celebrate some victories in keeping our riding areas and trails open for our use.

Think about it! Join the fight!!

As the President of Inland empire 4 Wheelers, ie4w.com I am also a member of Cal 4 wheel, and as a club we donate proceeds from our Big Bear Forest Fest to blue Ribbon Coalition and the US Forest Service Adopt-a-trail program. We have 5 adopt-a-trails in the San Bernardino National Forest that we maintain for OHV users. In the past 5 years I have participated in the Johnson Valley cleanup, Stoddard Valley cleanup and the two Calico Cleanups where IE4W was in charge of grafitti removal from the beautiful canyons.

So yeah, in between offering information on other ways to protect the environment by reducing the wasteful use of oil, excessive production of waste oil, and reducing our dependance on foreign oil, I also spend time working on trail conservation as well.

I know you have gotten lots of good and helpful information here so try not to be so narrow minded and see that it is all part of the bigger picture and every little bit helps.

This not good. I mostly do sand dune riding and am a member of ASA but this land grabbing is not good for anyone. The future layoffs of rangers not needed anymore, lack of land so lack of purchasing OHVs...etc. I think its time to join CORVA.

There really IS a growing movement against ORVs just because of a small percentage of riders ruining it for all of us.

What can you do?? When you see a kid or yahoo riding recklessly, tell them what you think about their actions and the consequences. One person doing that would have no effect, BUT, 20 people a day telling them to slow down & drive like a responsible sportsman WILL change their attitudes. PEER PRESSURE!!

We can't let 5% of riders screw us all out of a sport we enjoy!

Honk at any silver Dodge Ram & Crossterrain toyhauler on Baja. It's gotta be us - 'specially if it says Baja and Back #1.

Well said. Another issue I see are the people I see giving the bare minimum to BRC, Cal4wheel or CORVA. I work with a few greenies that contribute $100 a month to the Sierra Club. On the other hand a guy in my 4x4 club moans about the $40 a year he has to pay to cal4wheel to be a member there. He has no problem though dumping literally 10's of thousands into his jeep for 60's, beadlocks, atlas, etc. Where is he going to wheel that Jeep when everything is closed down except Prairie City and Hollister.

I am not saying everyone has to give $100 a month, but just doing the bare minimum and not helping on cleanup runs or adopt a trails will get offroad killed. You can't leave it up to the other guy and think you can slack and everything will still be there in the morning.

I wish asking or telling people was that easy... I told a young girl that racing around the campground was creating dust and throwing rocks all around our truck and trailer... Her Dad yelled up...." Sorry, won't happen again..".... then proceeded to display the same behavior... Wonder where she got it from..

Some people just don't get it really.. Or don't really care.. Or act like, how dare you tell us how to live and ride... We pay the same as you do..

Was riding in WI-MN.. The staging areas and parking lot was covered in trash and various bottle-cans... Even though a half empty trash can was less than 50ft away....Some won't even pick up after themselves....Thinking its not my job... They pay someone to clean up after us..

It only took 20 minutes to pick up all the trash and plastic bottles....

But look at these areas as non-riders/locals would...... No wonder some want to shut everything down...
