Looking at an 04 NL 10.2 and I'm curious as to what people's real world weights for this camper are running. It's got a listed dry weight of 2425. What are you NL owners experiencing for actual wet weights and/or weights fully loaded for camping (food, water, clothes, gear, etc.).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Figure about 600 lbs above the dry weight. Our NL 10-2 is a special edition (AC, TV, microwave, rear bumper with step, etc.) so dry weight is 2,980. When loaded up for a trip with groceries, a full water tank, 2 people, a dog and a lot of stuff, it comes in at 3,560. YMMV, so be sure and weigh your rig so you know. I had to go to 19.5 wheels and tires to feel safe with SRW's. Rear axle was up to 6,800 lbs. Too close to the max for stock tires and wheels in my opinion. -Mark.

My 04 10-2000RR empty weight is 3340. That's with the following mods: bumper + steps, A/C, microwave, cadet, hott rod, intellipower converter, tv, expansion tank and a full tank of water (water tank = 36 gals = 300 pounds when full (8.34 #'s/gallon). I, too, upgraded to 19.5's. Later, Dave.

p.s. Also full propane (40 lbs).

I've weighed my rig (2004 Dodge 2500 QC/LB 4x4 CTD with 6 spd manual) and it came in right around 7800’s with me in it, full tank of fuel and about 100#’s of “stuff” in the bed and cab. I tow a 18’ deck dual braking axle (10K GVW) trailer with what’s left of a 77 Chevy Blazer Rockcrawler. The Blazer and associated gear weighs in at around +/-6000#’s and the trailer has a listed weight of 2400#’s. I weighed the whole set up (Dodge, trailer, Blazer, camping gear, food, wife and I in it, etc.) on the way back from Moab last year and we came in around 17,800. I’ve got airbags on the truck and load range E tires already and PLENTY of go fast goodies (dynod at 516hp/983tq) and the best stop fast goody out there (pac brake PRXB). I’d be towing with the camper probably about 40% of the time and just using the camper by itself the other 60%.

From your responses I guess a safe weight for me to assume for the NL I’m looking at would be +/- 3500lbs wet ready to roll camping. Looks like I’d be well above the GVWR, slightly above the GAWR and right at or slightly above the GCVWR. Not preferred…but doable and if I have to I could upgrade to 19.5’s and be just fine.

You guys happy with your NL’s? I love the construction and quality and longevity that many owners have claimed to experience. Do you guys concur with those sentiments? How do the interiors feel…cramped at all? That’s been the only “knock” I’ve read about with these campers. It’d be just my wife and my son (who’s only 3.5 months old) using it.

Hi jack and coke, The DW and I are real happy with our 2008 NL 10-2 SE. It's comfy in the cold and in the heat. Surprisingly, it doesnt feel at all cramped for 2 of us and our small dog. We thought maybe it would since our former RV was a Minnie Winnie MH but it seems just right for us. We really like that we can go farther into the boonies than we ever could in the motorhome. We've had it for about a year and have put over 7,000 miles on it. So far no problems except that I'm not very happy with the tv antenna that came with it so am in the process of installing a Winegard batwing. I also replaced the single stage Parallax charger/converter with a Progressive Dynamics 4-stage unit. It rides on a 2007 GMC SLT LB CC Duramax/Allison SRW with KYB Monomax shocks and 19.5 Vision 81's with Hankook 245 load range G tires. We're also very happy with this "cowboy cadillac" of a truck. Our next trip will be cross country, Seattle to Florida Keys, in January/February but first I have to ship out for a couple of months(merchant marine) to make some $$$$. Hope to see you down the road somewhere. -Mark.

Mark is there anyway I might be able to talk with you. You have just about the same truck I have and the camper I want and have made some of the mods I am thinking of making. You can send me a private message if you would like.

Thanks

Hmm...good to hear markchengr. I figured NL's were quality units. Seems like whatever site I do research on everyone always has good stuff to say about them.

I think I may decide to pull the trigger on this one and make an offer on it. They're asking $16,900 for the 2004 unit. Seems in very good shape, had one previous (which is the original) owner and was stored indoors it's entire existence. However, FWIW....NADA gives it a value of around $13k. Anyone have any input on what "fair market" value is on this camper? Only drawback is the TC is about 600 miles north of me. So I'd have to make an offer on it site unseen....quite unnerving when you're talking about spending that kind of $$$.

If I do get it I'll give it a go with the load range E's I have for now and if need be I'll upgrade to the Rickson's. I'm sure many other people here will recommend against it, but I'm sure I can get my setup to work properly without buying a DRW rig (which isn't an option at this point).
